I just started the mold progress. Layed some nylon cloth to get the general shape and will eventualy keep layering wth fiberglass mat, bondo-glass, bondo and glaze to get the final shape. Lip spoiler will make the usdm bumper look a lot like a cross of the Signature and JOB design bumper.

Now make sure you do the sides and rear to complete it. I think its better do go all out or don't even bother. You will never see a car in vip car or vipstyle with just the front lip because it takes away from the overall appearance of the car in my opinion.

ill definetly do it all around, just anouncing and letting ppl know that i already started... On a side note: FIBERGLASS SUCKS!!!!! Even though a rough 1 layer mold came out ok, when I started to layer the FB matt that same night, the temperature right then was too cold for the resin to cure... I gave up and went to bed to wake up in the mornin and find that the last batch of resin I smeared drained back off the bumper into my driveway!!! IT IS A FREAKING MESS!!! I still salvaged a 2 FB 1nylon cloth semi mold to work on but to expense of my driveway looking like some alien queen had droped a big one there... and u guys should know that resin stains are HORRENDOUSLY HARD to take off... I might have to tint my concrete =:(

the jdm is going to get hacked pretty soon.. as soon as I get better. I had to put the Hundai together for richard since its gotta leave my house friday finished. I only made a semi-lip and took it off. Looks bad right now cause is a bit shapeless... your bumper should be done by the end of the week too. Just get the grill ready for another yakiniku... i'll bring some cut up chicken breasts and some shrimp!!!

I think it's great u want to make your own lip most of the guys on here don't make there own stuff.I just think your going about it in the wrong way so i'll give some ideas. They sell cans of expanding foam in home depo wat u do is get some cardboard cut it to the shape of the underside of the bumper making tabs and tape it to the wheel well and then fill the space between the bumper and the card board shape it then bondo it smooth. After that u can just make your fiber glass mold and there u have your part.

oh i found this info awile back if i find the link i'll put it

reason why I haven posted pics:

The pics u see are just to build inside pieces.

Themadone: that's how I am building the lip... kind of =]

The foam piece is done but I am still debating wheter to FG the foam shape or just give it a fine coat of bondo and then primer it and sand it. BTW, I discarded the inside pieces out of rage of the mess I made on my driveway. I only kept the long front piece for reference. I will post pics soon guys!

Looks like it's not fun! I spent too many years fiberglassing speaker boxes... I think it blew my sinuses out! Careful with that stuff!

I like the concept. My brother has a '147, and it is my favorite of the GS body styles. The one thing that really "dates" the car is how the lower body lines "die." The side skirts barely exist - these cars look MUCH better with some form of a tasteful kit.

Good luck w/ the project!

speaking of sinuses... I am STILL sick... only slightlyt and it is a minor sinus infection; this has been ongoing for the last 2 weeks... might have been all the fg work i've donein the past 4 weeks: almost everyday after work I have been messing with it at least for a while... Oh, well. I will post pics of the foam piece today, so be in tune!

i'm still a bit sick too.. if you take cold medicine, make sure it DOES NOT have an antihistimine in it. it will stop your nose from running, but all the dried up shit in your sinuses will easily give you a sinus infection. just take a decongestant like sudaphedrine (the real stuff) and use saline nasal spray. works like a charm. you'll have to blow your nose now and then, but you'll feel much better and you won't have a sinus infection. just be sure to sleep elevated a little or you'll get fluid draining in your lungs when you sleep.. that's what's happened to me now and it sucks cause i smoke. it just perpetuates caughing and shit... but yeah, fiberglass fvcks me up pretty bad. i've learned my lesson the hard way doing everything. wear a respirator around fiberglass.. wear safety goggles when grinding/cutting.. and damn sure always keep a mask ON when welding! flash burn is the worst pain i've ever fealt.. hahaha..
