View Full Version : Which do you like better??

Well ive lurked on here for a while and never really posted much besides curiosity behind wheel fitment and so forth.
Months have passed, and my wheels finally showed up..
This particular car was significantly modified in late 02 but it was converted back to stock since then, and i recently got started back on it..
anyhow, ive totally fabricated my rear suspension setup, and was curious of what look you like better...
Im able to run either the prelude rear suspension stuff all fabbed onto my tl trailing arms to take 32mm off of the wheelbase.. As a result i chose to run lower offset wheels.
First off let me appologize for the picture quality. my puppy enjoys chewing on electronics and found my camera so i used a phone camera.
Do you like it with the prelude hubs on the car...

or.....Do you like it better with the stock hubs(ignore the dirtball rear quarter and paint, its mid construction phaze)

Is there a question in there??
Anyway, the wheels look hot! Should be a welcome change to see a Honda/Acura with some decent lip :)

Nice! What are the sizes and offsets that you are running?
Its obviously better with the Prelude hubs since they sit closer to the fender.

Yah, I'm lost about the question too unless the other wheels are the ones against the wall..haha..then without a doubt these..haha.
As far as the hubs, I like the fitment better on the stock hubs. Although with the Prelude hubs you could run a more aggressive offset.

u should go w/ the prelude hubs and order two more vsxx w/ a more aggressive offset. foe show.

im sorry dudes, i was in a rush and didnt make myself clear.
The question is.. Im curious as to what your oppinions are on which looks better..
A part of me really likes the flushness and the look of the side (left side) thats running the stock hub. But as far as worry free fitment i like the other side also because it clears everything..
My setup is.........
Koni spss2 race shocks for an accord, shortened and revalved
1000.250.800 eibach ers racesprings in rear (800lb)
800.250.700 eibach ers racesprings in front (700lb)
ground control 8 inch threaded collars
eibach ers bumpstops
cusco top hat pillow mounts
spc extreme adj upper control arms + - 4 degrees adjustment
Megan adjustable toe lengths + - 5 degrees of toe
Megan adjustable lower control arms + - 3 more degrees of camber
its got countless other mods to the motor, brakes, and swaybar upgrades and all that but i dont really think thats relivant to this situation.. Basicly my entire rear suspension is adjustable, full heim joint, and is setup for roadracing.. Theres nearly no suspension travel the way it is so thats not a real issue with rubbing.. I can adjust the camber in or out on the wheels to clear.
the wheel setup is
+38 19x8.5 front high disk 225 35 19 fk452
-4 19x9 ultra low disk 225 35 19 fk452 rear (with 6mm wheel spacer rear "axle" nut hits centercap otherwise.
I would really love to use the prelude stuff in the rear and run like a -36mm offset in the rear, but the bottom line is to get the -4s i got now, took me 15 weeks. If anything id just order the barrels. But what the hell would that cost and will they even do that? I think it looks fine either way, i just cant make up my mind if i want to go mega popping out or back in the fenders..
Its kinda tough to imagine with those shots of my rear quarters. Some clownshoe hit me on the freeway and ghosted off the exit ramp and i wasnt able to get them.. The body damage is so distracting when you are trying to eye up clearance. So im getting ready to put the whole car under the knife and repaint it back to the midnight blue metallic.. should turn out alright.. Especially since its not your typical setup, its got nsx brakes, a high compression built motor, and racecar suspension.
thanks for your imput, and thanks for your comments guys...

it started out a 98 3.2 tl..
Thats the inspired motorsports full kit and grill,
ill get you some shots as soon as i mill out some shims to put in between the caliper and rear hub. Honestly it didnt just "bolt" on, i had to do alot of fabrication with the bearing placement, the abs sensor collar on the bearing, and alignment with the caliper..
I dont think this mod will work on any other chassis besides the 96-98 3.2 tl.. Perhaps the 2.5tl also using older 92-96 prelude rotors and hubs since they are 4x114
i adjusted me alignment and everything.. Without the lower adjustable control arms on yet, i was able to dial it in pretty well.. Im at like only 1/2 degree negative camber in the rear, but with the lower control arm lentghened i can get whatever camber angle i want in the rear.. I may just keep it close to perfect camber in the rear though, that way it doesnt wear the tires out too fast, but then again ill prolly toe it out a little so its snap oversteer prone. It liked to understeer alot with the factory setup.
ill get you some more pictures once i get a chance and time, ive got alot of housework to do this weekend and dont really have the time to do much besides respond..
Thanks again...

If you go with the TL hubs, it will be fine, BUT if you go with the prelude hubs, then you could run a lower offset wheel which will be BETTER....either way the car looks pretty good.

10-22-2007, 06:10 AM
Well i used the prelude hubs and dialed in the toe and camber and all that stuff..
heres what the fitment ended up being like. I can put some more positive camber in on top. and take some away on the bottom to make the camber angle on the rear a little more aggressve.
Anyhow, with it like this i can still really rip on it in turns and so forth..
Pardon the shaudy camera phone pictures. my cannon's charger port is broken and i need to solder it back onto the board.
This shot shows the suspension minus the front lower control arm on the rear. I have those on now.. So its all adjustable including the ruca's.

yea.. Maybe like a 215 tire on the 8.5 front instead of the 225.
some day i wanna do 20x9 -27 rears and keep my fronts i have now

heres some better pictures.. I started sanding it down and such. I have new tail lights, headlights, and moldings for it.
I think i want to sell the rears perhaps and get a 20x9.5 -27mm low disk rear vsxx.
all these pictures are with the roof sanded so understand that.
and yea the window visor on the drivers side is not on the car. The asshole i got them from failed to let me know the tabs were broken on it, so another drivers side one is on the way.
This is prolly the last you will see of this car untill its converted to a 6 speed manual and possibly turbocharged or even higher compression(13:1 ish)

this car is gonna be so sick when everything's complete... nice kit man there's a guy down here who has that as well, looks real good.
If its a bronze/champaigne colored one with eurolines its a guy off the tl forums. Ive always liked his car, just going for something slightly different..
Power wise.. Well this car used to have.....
MSD multi step retard, msd DIS 7+, NOS pro fogger direct port kit(jetted at 150hp), greddy sp from a prelude modified and altered to 3 inch, no converter, secondary o2 bypass, remapped ecu, type s throttle body, removed iab butterflies.. I had issues with transmissions holding together, so i removed the nitrous kit. Well kinda haha.. I replaced 2 of them at different times. Then after the second about 3 months later i was spraying and i had a fuel solinoid go bad, ended up leaning out and burning an exhaust valve on cyl 3. Also the electrode off the #3 and #4 banks fryed off and ended up dropping into the cylinder and causing significant damage to the cylinder wall and piston skirt around the oil ring area.
I pulled the motor, went 20 over and did the 98 nsx pistons off some guy who removed them from his nsx to do a toda stroker kit. The pistons literally looked brand new and i think they had like 11k miles on them. I put those in, shimmed the oil pump a few thousandths for a little more pressure, used all pink honda rod bearings for a little more clearance. I also shot peened the rods just for shits and giggles. The rods have arp bolts too. Im sure im forgetting mass stuff. I wanted to do the legend type 2 heads but with the 3mm larger valves they use and plans to do a custom grind cam i was afraid of piston to valve clearance. Not to mention the nsx piston is like almost a quarter of an inch taller on the dome. The rods had to be slightly modified to use them. I decked the heads 30 thousandths for a little more compression. I was going to do more but i was afraid my timing would be off since to my knowledge at the time there were no adjustable cam gears made for this motor. The heads are ported significantly, i used to have the papers for the flowbench cc's they flowed but its been a few years and with a recent move id have to look for them. Basicly they were worked pretty well around the bowl area and opened up a little more. Id like to do them more like almost to the water jackets if i force induce it.
The valvesprings were swapped for webcam ones, the throttle body was sent out and line bored and refitted with a 70mm butterfly. Non traction control car so all that horseshit is not on there. Full 2 3/4 stainless mandrel exhaust, borla muffler with turndown, jet hot painted black.
Its on trans 4 now. Basicly if i am on the freeway, and i slow down to about 50 and pound on it, it slips if i wanted it to. I think the compression right now is around 11.8:1 or so. All that other stuff like fuel pressure and timing are adjusted also. I can get into that also, but i dont really think its relivant. Im held back with it because the car makes too much power for the crappy honda torque converter and trans.
Its got 95 nsx calipers in front, carbptec pads, goodridge lines, nsx hydrobooster, stock 1 inch tl master cyl(nsx uses a 1 inch also biggest they use).
As far as the turbo plans. Im prolly going to get the 3.5 rl block, legend type 2 heads and go from there. Id assume crower rods, je pistons both for the legend. The rl uses the same crank and rods im pretty sure, just the bore is different. if not then i guess ill either have a destroked better stroke rod ratio anyhow 3.2 crank and rods in the 3.5 block. Run it about 9:1 compression, same pink loose bearings. See if i can locate headstuds for a legend this time. Put the webcam valvesprings into the type 2 heads. prolly use the web cams in it, 2 of my friends have their own dynos so ill just test which ever makes more power.
Use the type 2 intake manifold, but cut the throttle body plate mounting area off of it and re-weld a plate on it so i can jump it up to a 75mm or bigger. Hog them out more also and of course throw those iab butterflies in it away.
I already have an aeromotive tsunami 1000gal an hour pump, -6 and -8 stainless lines, weldon regulator, and precision 1000cc injectors (just need to get 2 more) for whatever i use so the fuel system is done minus 2 injectors.
My friend is a fabricator, and another friend works at lovefab in michigan and aids with making turbo kits for nsx's and stuff so ill have either one of them assist in fabricating some turbo manifolds for the car. There is literally no room under the hood so its going to be tough as far as where to put the sutff. Im really hot on this spot in the upper passanger side where the abs garbage is. Prolly take that shit off, redo the 3/16ths hard lines and omit the abs cause i have it disabled anyhow. With it gone i think i could fit nearly a 100mm turbo in there. I want to do either a gt42r bb garrett, or a pt74 precision, 4 inch stainless downpipe, skyline core ic, 3 inch end tanks, 3 inch ic pipes, already have the hks race bov and big tial wastegate, also got the blitz power id and boost controler already, worry about the exhaust last.
Before i do anything though i need to put the legend 6 speed trans into the car. The problem is locating one. Give me time though. Ive just got alot of projects going on now so its not the main spotlight. Hell i had this car back to stock nearly 6 months ago, so all of this has come in the last 6 months already.
Power wise i dont really know what to expect. No ones really doing this to this car. Everything ive done to it already is 90% chance the first time its been done to this chassis car. As far as what i want, i want to make low to mid 500s on pump and 6-650 on c16 with high boost.
Sounds like a lot im sure, and far fetched. But this is NOT the first car ive built. Besides i already have a LOT of the parts i need to do this with, and anything i dont have i have close friends at the manufacturers who sell the stuff. I build it all myself, i painted it as is myself, i built the motor, chose the parts, and if anyone helped/helps me its handing me a wrench.
Its already dialed in suspension wise similar to my old ek civic i built for the NASA Hondachallange H1 class. The only thing thats hurting it is unless i want to run my old clown wheels, it wont have my kumho v700s on it so i cant get a couple wheels off the ground, it breaks loose before that happens with the falken 452's haha..
wordy response i know. But it just sounded like you were interested and knew about some stuff so i shared whats on my mind haha.
As far as the chaser thing, i already tell the local riceboys that hound me at the gas station thats what it is, then turn around and wait till i walk away to laugh when they cant see my face.
Thanks for the compliments, ill keep ya updated. Worst case senario, ill put the legend trans in and bigger cams, then its still a totally built high compression motor. As far as speed wise, it already pulls type s newer body ones with no problem, and it pulled a 12.80 ss camaro when i had the nitrous kit on it with the stock motor. Never dynoed it, just street tuned it, never cared, always had faster cars.

id adjust all of the rear suspension, raise it 2 inches and remove 2.5 inches from the rear wheelbase width, and put some positive toe onto it to compensate for the toe being altered too. Everything is 100% fully adjustable
I could do a -36mm offset and make it work. I made the stocks clear the fenders before i even swapped hubs. The hubs removed 32mm.
