I assume there's no pics of the fronts on yet cuz they stuck out waaaay too much? Judging by the fitment figures, the fronts are about 4mm more out than the rears... toyotas might have a hard time taking more in the front than the rear...
TransformCelsior
05-22-2006, 04:43 PM
yeah it kinda looks like you'd have to do a -5 camber along with alot of fender/quarter bodywork to make it flush.

wow -10 upfront..why only -1 in the rear?
Does that make the difference in the wheels widths?
AME_VIP
05-22-2006, 06:13 PM
damn! That is hardcore in the front. Even with 25mm fenders on my SC I can't make that flush without more than 3.5 neg camber. Mine are effectively 19x9.5 -9
good luck !

wow -10 upfront..why only -1 in the rear?*
Does that make the difference in the wheels widths?*
i think its actually better for sedans or cars that arent really about performance. that fitment should be more ''square'' opposed to a ''triangular'' staggared fitment.(picture the car looking down on the roof)
the difference of 10mm should make both wheels ''poke'' out the same amount.

Put my coils on today and maxed the camber via stock adjustment. I still got like 3/4" poke" out of the fender with a 245/30 in the rear. I'm thinking of going with a 235/35. I'll get some pics up by the end of the week. My front tires should be here by thurs.

Not to be a hater, but I think it needs to be noted that the aggressive setup that you have chosen should have some sort of "flare" on the fenders. Whether it's a pull (good luck) or add-on fender, it really needs it.
I think in the whole scheme of VIP, wheel fitment is very important. Selecting proper offsets is uber important. Fitting on the lowest offset wheel, just to say you have dish really needs to be a decision based on the entire project. Yes u have awesome wheels, but how impractical have you gone? Believe me, i'm all about aggressive fit, but a plan has to be conceived when starting a VIP project.
In case you're wondering, I do own an LS400 as well. I know what fits and what does not. You have done well in making the wheels fit, but in my opinion, I think you have gone a bit too low in offset on a stock body.
There, I said it! Again, i'm not hating. You've got a great project going!

I agree with Chris to a certain extent, but apprantly you don't know us Hawaii guys. We do what it takes to get the job done. Lately, we've been working on our cars until 2, 3, 4 in the morning...waking up at 6:30 to work at 7. the only thing that keeps us going are the final look of our rides and a lot of heinekins :D I think Dan made a great choice on wheels. It's only impractical if you let it be. I have airrunners on my Y33 rolling on negative offset...people told me, "NO WAY"...you'll never get that to fit...I pulled my fenders and not even close to completing the project but at least I started and know it'll get done. There are a couple Y33's around the island who want to run low offsets without even rolling their fenders. Fine, that's cool. But anyone can run rims those guys are running. I like to stand apart from them...When they see their cars, they're gonna say "wow look at that sick Q"...then I want someone else to say "it's nice but have you seen the Q with over 7" of dish". That's what it's all about, setting the standard and going above and beyond what anyone else has attempted. I'm not taking anything away from those other cars but it's just my interpretation on my way of modding a VIP car. I'm really fortunate to have another VIP'er I can hang out with, talk story and throw around some ideas with. We motivate each other to get the job done, and it will get done. I love the thought of people saying or thinking, damn, you're fuckin' crazy. Especially when I'm cutting up my fenders on a newer Q45. I love VIP and what it stands for. I believe someone had one word for VIP styling in this forum, bold. You're not being bold if you just roll your fenders with a 2" drop. Yes, VIP styling is expensive that's why I don't expect everyone to mod like us. What you call impractical, I call doing it our way. You can't worry about your car scraping or scratching something everytime you drive. Yes, no one wants their car all beat up but shit happens. Enjoy what you've done...Although I have airrunners, I'm riding almost full slammed 95% of the time. Do I scrape my exhaust and is my front bumper all scraped to hell, of course! But that comes with the territory so I expect it. Well, that's just my quarter. :D

Sure it may not be to everyone's taste's but I wanted to go the craziest fit within the stock fenders. I love camber and strech and the more wild side VIPCARS are the one's that appeal to me. Sure I should of went with a little aggressive fitment, but I wanted to set my car apart from the rest. It's not all about dish it is about the way the wheel sits flush with the wheel well. I did slightly pull my fenders last night using the bat technique. I haven't built any of my car's to anyones tastes but myself. Sure I could build a car like in the magazines or use the recomended offsets that are listed on fabulous ect but thats not my taste. I build my car for myself. If people like it cool, if they dont, cool when it comes down in the end i'm the one putting my hard earned $$$ into it not anyone else. Thanks for the constructive criticism.

To me it isn't. My friend is running way crazier offsets on his y33. I actually think it's pretty mild, but a good fitment for a stock body ls. I'm waiting for you to get your fender work and camber done. Did you try max out the sock adjustments? I did my rear, but ran into problems with the font I need to take it to an alignment shop being that the steering tie rod needs to be adjusted as well.

No, i ended up being able to tuck the rims with the stock camber adjustment and a slight pull (baseball bat method) I'm guessing it's about 7 degrees not exactly sure when I get my alignment I will let you know exactly how much.
