I've got alpine type s 6x9's and 5x7's that I wanted to connect to an amp. I was wondering if I can connect it to a sony xplode xm-sd22x 2 channel amp. The watts on the amp is 200 rms x 2 @ 4 ohms. The 6x9's are 2-50 watts rms (250 watts peak power) and the 5x7's are also 2-50 watts rms (250 watts peak power). I will be connecting two positives on one positive slot and two negatives on one negative slot. Now my question is is that will this distribute the watts by 4 so it wont overpower the speakers or will it work fine? I was thinking of this but I can always buy a weaker amp. Thanks guys.

if you need more info here are the links.

no. by connecting the way you're saying you will be running them parallel (2 ohms) which will give you 125w/speaker aka blown. find a 4 x 50w rms amp and call it a day.

i know this response is a lil late haha but you'll actually be ok cause it's still under the peak power. plus it's better to over power than under power. if it came out to be weaker than the rms i would say no. it's always better to be right around peak or a lil above peak power cause there's a smaller chance of distortion. distortion is what kills speakers and not so much of having too much power.
