OK, I know my car isn't quite VIP but it is where the movement seems to have started so here ya go. 1991 M-B 560SEL AMG.

Anyway, let me know what you think. I will only own this car for another two or three weeks before it sells but I have really enjoyed it since last summer. ;D

Cool, looks like a fun car. And you are right, that car is one of the cars that inspired people to start this style. You dont come across many with modifications, especially in the states. Welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay.

if this is the car I think it is, wasnt this know as the AMG "Hammer" back in the day??

I remember a piece in some Euro mag back in the late 80's that did a road test on a red one. The motor barely fit into the engine bay, it was truly insane!

That was a 6.0 four cam motor. Mine is a 5.6 car, about 325hp. The "Velvet Hammer as the 6.0 AMGW126 was called in that Car & Driver article is different from the "HAMMMER" that was actually based on a W124 chassis. My car kicks butt anyway! ;D

My car gets between 16 and 21 MPG which is not bad at all for a car that will run 130mph all day long :o

so, what has been your experience with this ride maintenance-wise? I always loved this gen of MB, its just that we had a mid-80's 300SD TurboDiesel when I was a teen and a bunch of stupid stuff kept going wrong with it.

Beyond regular maintenance, nothing has gone wrong. It has an hydraulic suspension and the accumulators are know to go bad at 100K and mine were shot from the time I bought it, after replacing that and the front shocks it was good to go. I did have to replace the rear tires twice...but....I think that was my fault ;D

Current wheels are nice, but I'd throw on some bigger wheels and bag it. Would look even more sick. Very classic car...

Back from the dead...

My car went to a collector in Pa who found a crisper one(1 of 54 made in '91) so he Ebayed this off. Guy shows up in cut offs and sandles with a backpack and handed him cash and headed for Cali. Car is in impound in San Jose since the guy got nicked with some quantity. So this car will unfortuanetly never again roll the road...

I was sad to see this thread

sorry to hear about the fate of your beautiful ride but it is nice to see your back perusing the boards! could this be a hint that your gonna get a new ride to pimp out?

HAHA, I have an RA1 but I prefer fast and drivable to the to low to go. I do love looking at the cars here since they really have a stylistic quality that grabs on.

I just traded my racecar off though so who knows what will come next?

Those are 16x8.5 and 16x9.5 factory AMG Pentas. The front tires came off the rear of the 986S when I got new 17" Kinesis for it and the rears were EBAY specials. I don't recall the sizing but it was close to original.

Absolutely stunning car you've got! I'm a huge fan of classic Benzes.

It sucks to hear what happened to it. Reading about that almost brought tears to my eyes.
