I realize I will have my ass kicked for this thread, but is there anyone besides me that loves "VIP style" without the seat trays, curtains, and little stuffed animals that come along with it? Alright, flame on!

To be honest I dont like the Curtains thats why I never put them in my car. They are in my lil bros GS because it had it way back when curtains were not all over the place and we are deciding on taking them out. I admit it does give the car some class feel when your in it but i think its not my steez.

Well, I guess how I feel about is it's your car. You're not being chauffeured around in it, what's the point? I love them on a Maybach...

i thought they were stupid to begin w/ (150-200 for a pair of curtains???)...but then i found out they might be useful, if you actually use them. I park outside alot so extending the curtains while parked i'm sure should block some of the heat and sun rays...right?

I like the curtains. Especially the white cause uumm those are the most uncommon color around even on this forum.. At first I thuoght how silly why would you want curtains in your car, but just like the way that tons of - camber at first I did not like now I love and love the curtains...I prefer the mesh style so you can still see through them and there not as a distraction. They might be popular here on the fourm but as a whole in the us they are very uncommon...I dont know if Damicci has curtains so for me might beeing the only one in Tucson AZ with curtains in my ride makes it very uncommon and very PIMP....I am allways getting looks and comments...Some old lady told me how she liked my drapes in my car while another person said it look like a hurse...hahahaha...but

No one should kick you behind for this..if they do they are just acting silly...this is a great topic and would love to hear others opinions...

Stuffed animals...naa I wouldnt roll with JP hello kitty stuffed animals or any other kind for that matter...I am a 32 year old man not a little kid who needs his blanky...so no no fore me on those..

the wood tables I do like. I think it adds tons of class and make the cars interior look more luxury...could be a hazard though if you roll with passangers....as far as the carmate mini tables allthough I have one they are pretty cheaply made and very unfunctional..they dont hold really anything bigger than the smallest water bottle and are allways falling down on the air vents..those I would not by again and think allthough kinda look cool when you do see them in person they are just pieces of plastic..the bar that slides out on the bottom is allways comming loose and like i said very unfuctional...I only use them when I take pics sometimes I dont even bother to put them in....some one want to buy a mini car mate table for cheap????hahahahahaha...

lets see what others have to say.

I like the curtains. I actually took mine apart and just used the rails with a different fabric I wanted to go with. Motorized would be nice.

My windows are as black as the paint tho...I try to get my creep-on thru the city

I think curtains should be one of the last mods a person should do if they choose to run them. To me theres nothing worse then seeing a stock looking car with curtains especially an older car. I told a few people, once I start seeing them in NY on civics and carollas (its bound to happen) im removing mine.

i like curtains, but as a finishing touch on a well done traditional build. trays are cool, but i have been weary with quality/functionality concerns. i have already made my feelings about men with hello kitty clear. these things really only fit in with one of the styles encompassed by vip styling, so i love it w/ or w/o.

I totally agree with you. You gotta start with the fundamentals, then move on to small styling cues. Im approaching a level where I feel its appropriate to run interior styling cues like curtains and neckpads. I dont see the point of small styling cues when your car has horrible stance/style wheels.

Anyway, I like curtains but not sure how they play a role in daily driving. IE, if they get annoying with the windows down, or lack of visibility and what not. It is one of those things where people will look at your car and wonder why the hell you have curtains. It reminds of those big family vans from the 80s, I remember those rockin curtains.

I like them, but they're not suited to either of my cars.

Well, sometimes I think it would be nice to have Garson curtains in the Protege once it's done, but it's not a necessity, just a finishing touch. I think they would be bothersome in it as a DD, not to mention thief bait wherever I park my car.

jubei07
11-13-2007, 08:15 PM
At first I didn't really care for them, but then I started to realize my interior seemed bland. So I got some Garsons, Man it really changes the ambiance inside. People trip when they see it from the outside, but when they take a ride with me they are like " Man I feel like a president or a celebrity riding in here!!" I love them now. Everyone loves the crystal BLING-BLING!!!

They pretty much help out with the interior heat when getting back in the car.

For those who do have them, but are bothered by reduced blind spot vision, try tightening their straps down all the way and slide the curtain hooks as far as possible to the end of the rail to make them as skinny as possible. I do this with my set and they give more blind spot visibility as well as minimize movement when driving with the windows down.

golfkid777

I had no trouble with blindspot issues. I drove a car strapped in with 5 point harnesses for 2 years. I couldnt see isht. I just didnt like thier presence while in the car. Just personal. I do love how they look from the outside though.

I use them for a number of different purposes that I wont go into here...as I'm sure many of us do.

And believe it or not, I sometimes pull them closed when I'm parked and using my laptop. You guessed it, I'm in sales.

Besides that, I don't really care what people think around here since Western PA is infested with redneck hillbillies. Most don't even know what my car is since I'm not driving a damn Camaro, Trans Am, pickup, or honda...lol

l

I don't understand. What purposes? :naughty:

Back to the topic, I have curtains in my chauffeured company car. I can have an extra hour to sleep in the car every morning thanks to it. I don't like tables, ashtrays, crystals and all other accessories. It only make it difficult when you wanna clean your interior.

mzeo
11-14-2007, 07:28 PM
I think they look nice from the outside, and can see them being neat sitting in the back of the car. I was actually about to post a topic similar to this before reading this one.

Personally, I drive with the windows down as much as possible. I loathe A/C. The curtains flapping in the wind would probably drive me nuts, as well as opening/closing them all the time. For the cost of motorized ones, I don't think it's worth it. Tint can do the same thing, but you don't have to worry about any of these things. If I somehow had the money for a show only car, I'd put on curtains, but never on a car I have to drive.

As far as plush toys, those go on the tow hook!

i agree.. i myself probably would never get a bodykit.. and if i did,
it'd be a add-on lip at the most.. im not opposed to them, but im just
saying the VIP car(fully done) will have the bad ass kit from japan.

i guess what im saying is, look at 99% of the cars in vipstyle or vipcar
magazine.. those are 'complete' vip cars... fusa. curtains. rims. suspension. kit.

i dont like fusas or curtains at all, but i think if u're trying to build a vip car
i dont see a problem with people rocking that stuff.. they ain't cheap and vip
is all about how much u can dump into your car to customize it.

I haven't read through 3 pages of posts but I DO NOT like them.

People put curtains in Japan to get away from the shaken (not the past tense of the verb "shake" but 車検) since "full smoke" is illegal in Japan. If the State you live in allows you tint, why not just tint the window and keep it clean looking?

I'm kidding you about what?"

There are owners taking off the tint lately. Still may be a minority but it is increasing. I've heard everything from people realizing it is dangerous to drive w/ tint, not wanting to mess with the police, and giving in to their wife/kids complaining. and いきがってフルスモをしてるオーナーが最近少ないため、カーテンが増えてきたみたいですよ。Y es, I do realize there are people just taking it off every 2 years but a lot of people that goto that extent just use the 裏車検. And I'm aware of the front windshield tint...I used to work at オートウエーブ and since オートバックスdoesn't accept any illegally tinted cars, they all came to us.

If that's the case, why do we see a lot of vip cars in the photo gallery section with 'full smoke' as you say? Or maybe i'm not grasping your concept. i've seen a lot of photos with the windows all tinted, including the winshield. We can't even do that here.

Cops in Japan rarely (if ever?) book you for illegally modded cars i've been told. The only time it counts is when you go for your registration (every 2 yrs), or if you go to super strict service centres it appears.

Tint is cheap, its not hard to put it on and then take it off for the Shaken.

I've been told ha it all started out as an alternative of full smoke windows, then became a status/accessory thing I guess. I never understood curtains so I may have a biased towards view.

cops pull you over for fix-it tickets all the time; tint, exhaust, height, etc. For tint, they usually fix it, prove the officials that they did fix it and go right back and put tint back on.

Ah fair enough... Seems a bit more relaxed than out here though. Rolling with Grant in his Y33 that has basically got no exhaust, only a few cm off the ground, and very wide wheels, right next to police who just ignored him

Over here cops can and will book you for the most trivial of things.

but its the same story here. Get defected for wheels, take them off, drive to the inspection centre, drive home, put them back on. Tint is a bit more of a hassle, but you still see people doing it

sorry guys, just got excited to see some japanese getting tossed around on a car forum. most people don't even know what a "tsuraichi" is in japan. I'll be careful.

I actually got pulled over once for exhaust...and twice while in my friends car with a GT wing and kanard and this other time for car being too low/loud... But my friends nor myself never got a ticket for that b/c they need the machine to give you an actual ticket. YokotaS13, you might be getting lucky b/c you have a "Y" plate.

I've heard of wives complaining b/c they share the car and they can't see outside in the dark and how dangerous it is with the kids in the car and how they don't want to be assosicated with the yakuza/chinpira or doesn't want to be seen as a kid trying to rebel against society (or "ikigatteru" would be the JDM phrase I'm looking for).

Caoboy
11-28-2007, 12:11 PM
Yes, and curtains don't create blind spots either right? I'd rather rock tint than curtains, even if it's dark at least i can see. If she can't see out the rear windows, she's got side mirrors. That's what they are for. Learn to use your mirrors! And if it's still too much, then don't drive my car! lol.

You can always roll down your windows, whereas curtains, you cant as easily pull them back.

between the the no curtains and no tint post whats next no wheels and no sliggity slam...come on guys this is VIP style...not plain style.. Green tint and window curtains dont make you VIP but they sure do help contribute to the style...

My wife does not drive my car at all..for one its to low for her, she does not like the ride and thats that..she would rather roll the LX470 any day of the week...when we start talking about function in VIP cars well really there is not to much function in these style cars anyways. I meen when your super low and wheels are cambered heavily you start to loose more funtcion than tint or curtains...

I guess my point is if you dont like them then cool..but dont try to cherry coat it with beeing functional or not...

I rather and prefer curtains over tint!!!! Why?!
Because:
-Most don't have them
-Chicks dig em
-Tint is illegal to some extent in CA and grabs cops attention eaily
-makes your inteior look more elegant
-It's Trendy! LOL!
-easier to get your swerve on in your car! <----try it! It's the best!!! Hehehehe
-Because it's one of the most baller things you can do to yo car!
etc.

I have not once had a problem w/ blind spots since I've had my curtains which is as long as I've had my car! Anyone who has trouble should learn to use there mirrors and look and pay attention to your surroundings! Really it aint that hard!

BTW- I had an old lady get my attention on the road to tell me she likes my curtains!
Hahahahhahaha! Old or not Chicks dig em!
:giggity:Especially yo chick & yo mom!

Oh and I ALWAYS ride w/ my windows done and still have no problems!

But as they say different strokes fo different folks!

Funny that you mention that but, I have noticed an increased # of threads that contradict or question aspects of (traditional, if correct) the styling. I mean isn't it what it is? If you don't like or agree w/ it then keep it to yourself. Not liking curtains/tints, what are you tryin to say? If you ain't got them, then you don't have them right? Ppl out there always tryin to segregate the scene or nit pick it. Why?:pat:

glad you understood...I mean there alot of cars in the mags that do and dont have tint, do and dont have curtains but the ones I seem to like the most are the ones with the green tint or the curtains..most of all the white curtains as they seem to be more outside the norm from what most folks have here in the states.. Like I said before VIP styling is far from functional...unless you are on the very conservative side wich is tall springs big wheels no camber and can roll anyware with out trouble..NOt to say that low low is the only way to go but once again most cars that I give props to are the ones that have perfect fitment ( takes alot of time and planning for this at one desired ride hieght) and that are sliggity slammed..if they have curtains and tint then thats just cherries on the cake in my book..I think it makes it look more gangster with green tint and curtains but thats just my .02....this comment is not directed to anyone on the forum...so dont read into it to much

Well, the thread title is "Anyone Else Not Like Curtains? (http://vipstylecars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=110358#post110358)" and not "Who likes curtains?" so I would expect comments about people not liking curtains...
And it is in a Debate section so I would expect opinoins from both sides. If you like them, cool, if you rock them, I think it's unique and cool too.

something that folks need to realize that on a forum your going to have mixed feelings with certain ideas and topics..if you dont want to hear it dont post it..

I was being sarcastic. I was answering your comment "If you don't like or agree w/ it then keep it to yourself." If this is a debate forum, why should I not be allowed to see if there are others out there who feel the same way I do?

I know you were which was immature. You have just as much right to find out who agrees w/ you as much as I do to say my piece and ask valid questions. I just think it would be nice for ppl to explain their views, who knows I may agree w/ you? Am I wrong?

I don't understand what you are trying to say. All I did was ask who likes VIP style sans the accessories that come with it. Alongside the curtains, I wanted to see who didn't care for the tables, and stuffed animals, that's all.

Look dude I get you. Let's say you met a bunch of ppl that don't like curtains...cool now you know, now what? I was just making a statement, sayin' those things are apart of a foreign culture and I can respect that.

I had my curtains ripped down by police 3 times in NYC and once in PA. I dont even run a curtain on my drivers side window because of it. Makes me want to throw a granade at the nearest precinct

Wtf were they doing rippin your shit down?

This is why we call the NYPD- New York Pricks & Dicks. They are known to pop subs and speakers with pens and things like that.

Excuses I got for them taking down the curtains were-
"Are there any drugs in here"
"lets see if your hiding a gun in here"
"you cant have anything blocking your veiw"

I never taken action against them mainly because well, its not that difficult to get the curtains back on the rail and taped back on the window frame. They just ripped down my curtain a few days ago on the passenger side. You can see that its down if you look on my picture thread in the photo gallery. Its noticeable on one of the side driving height shots.
