Not full out boso, but definatly inspired. I was going to start with the body work because there is a big dent in the rear of this car, but the engine needed attention first. The old 2M carb'd I-6 is leaking a lot of oil both internally and externally. I don't like carbs so I decided on a motor swap instead. Next week the actual swap begins! Don't know how many of you guys are into old school cars, but I figured this is as good a forum as any to find people who understand!

A few pics of my 1972 Toyota Corona Mark II

The engine I am putting in is a 7M-GE from an 89 Supra. This photo was while everything was still off the motor and looking nice. Once the intake manifold and wiring harness goes back on it looks all cluttered. Oh well. Its still a nice looking engine once all the smog garbage is off.

Thanks for the welcome! This is going to be a fun project I think. This is a pretty rare car. I really like the way it looks, even though its a bit of an odd looking car. Obviously is going to be a lot of work as well as an on-going work in progress.
The good about this car is that its 99% original! I can't believe how well cared for it is. Next to no rust as well. A few spots of surface rust, but no serious cancer anywhere. The interior is in great shape. No weird old-car smells either.
The bad is it needs body work. It got hit twice in the same spot! Thats why the rear bumper looks all crooked. Once I am done with the engine swap and fitting the wheels ( 15x8 zero offset, should be here next week ) It will be time to get that dent taken care of, as well as the one behind the left front wheel you can see in the photo.
I will keep you guys posted about the progress!

Damn, Matt! That thing is going to be so cool! :smitten:

Have you done any work to that 7M yet? You might want to preventatively change the head gasket with a metal one and throw in some ARP head bolts. Doesn't have to be a turbo for those things to pop. I killed two of them before I learned about the 7M's head gasket problem. :'( Change it while the engine's out and you won't have to worry about it again. The 7M is also pretty sensitive to drops in oil pressure, the #6 rod bearing likes to go. Keep those things in mind and you have a great engine.

What wheels are you getting for it?

Thanks guys!
Yeah I have been looking into the problems the 7M is famous for. The headgasket is done, and the headbolts are torqued to 65lbs-ft. I am going to leave the engine stock except for those headers. Seriously, 200hp in this old car is going to be plenty! Maybe, down the road a bit I will add an N02 kit. That would be fun.
Here are the wheels I ordered, gold in color:

Yeah yeah I know, ebay wheels. But until I can find a set of SSR MKIIs in the right size, I didn't want to drop a bunch of $$$.
I will keep you guys posted with the progress!

mmm... I'm picturing fat fender flares, deep wheels, fender mirrors, dropped to the ground, and a datsun 510 lip like this!

You and I think alike......I have been talking with the guy who made the front lip on my S14 and he is really into my project. Here is his Photochop concept for my car. He will hand lay all the fiberglass himself:

And here is a random photo of a cool Datusn I saw just for you Ender

Oooh nice photochop mang! Dunno what was up with the positive camber in the original, but the guy was trying to show me the fiberglass he is going to do more than worry about the little stuff like hella slam. Cutting spings and shock casings is my dept.
I have decided not to do fender mirrors. The hood is already very short compaired to the rest of the body, and fender mirrors would not help. I do want to swap out the rectangle mirrors for round mirrors though. Round will match the car better
