A good question... not too many people ended up putting their money where their mouth is, esp when viplife did crazy fire sales on crazy wheels.
Why do I have a sinking feeling the og gray Q is going to die a horrible death now... :(

I thought the person that bought his Q posted in here?

Knyte Ryder is his username and he was asking for two tone treatment.

I'm not sure we should be having an all out bash-fest on this car, considering the new owner is a member here.

Why not ask the new owner directly? I remember viplife offered the possibility of his panel beater that could finish the bodywork and supply a turnkey VIP car. Perhaps this is the result of this panel beater; in which case the new owner would have had little to do with it.

I think its fair to let him explain the situation. And before posting a comment, try to imagine it was your car which was being discussed. Be nice people! (after all, he did not ask for comments, someone else just posted his car up).

Ah yes that car... hmmm, can't say I'm too stoked with how the fenders turned out either... definitely NO concinnity at all. Looks like two different flares from two different cars... so that's my design critique. Hmmm, and I have NO idea what happened to the rear wheels, as they fit w/o flares before, but now stick out past the flares. I mean, it has obviously been decambered, but I have no idea why. It's a shame the car can't go lower though... I used to always wonder why it was always so high, and then I saw this pic and realized that whoever did the flares... they just made the fender lip like as thick as the flares!
http://www.s2lstudio.com/car/du/images/_DSC1387.jpg
Hmmm, kinda curious also why the car is usually driven around w/o the front bumper, but then the bumper is put on for events, and then taken off when the car drives off. When viplife had the car he would drive it around with the bumper on, so it should be doable... esp since he had it a lot lower, too. Well, I believe the new owner of the car popped up on here for a brief bit before, so maybe he can hang around and take the car in a direction away from what I sorta consider "what a typical honda enthusiast would do to a Q45."

He said it's going back to the shop to have the fenders redone 'cuz as we can see, they didn't turn out so great, so I guess we can expect an improvement.
The bodywork wasn't satisfactory to me, but I didn't really think much of it. Now seeing the responses, I guess I'll just get them to redo it.

Can someone C&P some stuff from here to there? Never did care to get a ziptied acct anyway....

My first question that pops up is... why was the diff welded? Why was a factory LSD diff welded in the first place?!?!
Ok, with that out of the way, it should be noted that the current owner of the car did not buy it from viplife. Most all those pics of the car when it was in its most complete state (i.e. fenders flipped and pulled out, bodykit in place, both front bumpers on and driven around with, etc.) minus paint was when it was owned by viplife. The current owner of the car bought it from the person who did buy it from viplife I believe, but there was another "semi" owner of the car (no, not me!) for several months who did cut the fenders because he was planning on welding on new, fabricated flares. And in all honesty, that is what SHOULD have been done at that point. Or even mold on good fiberglass flares, not something that looks like it came from several different sources. And I'm sorry but I can't believe that those are Junction Produce Premium flares because, well, just look:
http://www.junction-produce.co.jp/catalogue/premiums/nissan/infinitiq45_hg50_zenki/index.files/3.jpg
vs.
http://jsjbrothers.com/albums/album43/IMG_2028_Medium.jpg

The fenders are TOTALLY different... I just hope that you were not hoodwinked into paying JP prices on CRAP parts.
Here is what the semi owner was working on the car. My only involvement at that point was giving him pointers, but of course, he never got beyond radiusing the fenders and making the mockups... he did hammer out one flare, but never metal finished it or anything, and just let the car sit for like 6 months.* :(
http://www.onetongarage.com/van/grayq05.jpg

So, in the state that the car was bought by the next person, and then the current owner... what should have been done? First of all, the rear should NOT have been decambered. Noooo idea why it was. And the components used to camber the front and rear in the first place were Z32 control arms. I can't help but wonder if the front was decambered too, but most pics show the front wheel turned, so it's a little hard to determine that. As for the flares and bodykit though, I personally think that a normal "round" flare should have been fabricated. There would have been so many ways to do this....
- make card stock templates like above, and transfer to sheet metal, bend and hammer to rough shape, and hammer and dolly or wheel it to metal finish it... weld into place... done and bad ass. Heck, this could have this done for several thousand dollars and the results are METAL flares that follow the shape of the car, front and rear. Then just fit the bodykit (repair the split sideskirt), and add little "follow through" bits on the ends of the fenders and side skirts so that they blend into the flares, and fiberglass them in place.... done, or
- cut stock metal fender flares out of another vehicle (previous-gen mustangs and audi RS6s are always good choices)... they can be had for about 100 bucks a corner. fit them to the car, weld into place... continue as above, or
- get universal type fiberglass fender flares, fit them to place, and mold them on, and flatten the cut inner rear fenderwell and fiberglass a bridge between it and the new fiberglass flare.... and then do the bumpers and sideskirts like above.

It's never a good idea to do a rush job just to meet a show deadline... I mean, I guess if it's like SEMA or something, sure. But if it compromises the overall outcome of the car, is it worth it just to show off for a couple hours to have a bunch of kids go "daaaaammmmn, das tiiiite!" I always thought it was bad ass how chip foose withdrew one of his cars from the running for the ridler award one year because he knew that it wasn't worth rushing the car just for that (and the ridler award is probably now the MOST coveted prize you can get in that industry), and waited one whole year till the next opportunity. Anyway, point is... it wasn't worth rushing that car, or any car for that matter. But in the case of that car, the end result right now really seems to be disappointing to a lot of folks, as evidenced by their posts. What sucks is that once all that stuff has been bondoed/molded on like that, it's now even harder to redo it the right way it should have been done the first time around. But then again, "right" is subjective, and maybe some people prefer the current look vs. the look of the path it was headed down before.

Funny, but I was just watching this vid again a few days ago... I miss the days when the car was driving like that:
http://www.onetongarage.com/van/q45.avi
Granted that was with stock bumpers, but a few weeks after this vid, viplife attached the bumpers and sideskirts on the car, and still drove it at that height. Air does help. Tires tucked under the fenders perfectly, camber was there, it could rise to clear obstacles, and when parked, you could maybe hope to slip a credit card under the bumper. Too bad it wasn't painted all one color then, so at least the new car has that much on it............

BIG power, BIG body mods, BIG wheels, and FLASHY colors are kinda what their about. it no wonder they chewed his ass out for those flairs, some of them lashed out at the whole car in its current state. the guy was kinda :uglystupid2: for posting it there

I saw what Oneton posted and the first time I read it I thought post stuff from "there to here" because he didnt have time to make an account over there....

then viplife said that he wrote "here to there" which didnt make sense to me, but that is what Oneton posted :buck2:

Either way, just click on the link and it will be all there for you..no need to be a member to view it.

So viplife is right about what oneton said, but I think the meaning is theother way around.
