I see lots of wood and not too much cheap plastic. Hate it or love it, they have stepped their game up.

so they did put that cheap looking late 80s looking digital clock on the center console to production...

and wood, silver plastic, tan leather....too much going on for me. it's either wood OR metal for me.

did they take the foglights from the 2IS parts bin?

The interior looks terribly familiar... Can't recall which car, but it's damn familiar.

Judging from the pix, it's taken in Korea right? Alot of KDM car models their design over another vehicle manufacturing co (usually japan)

yeah ur right.. the interior looks like some other car.. only one i can think of is the 03-04 M45 Infiniti or the last Infiniti Q45.... except for the round knob next to the shift knob....
center console and navi pretty similar...

Well that was what the F50 was suppost to have looked like. They toned it down alot because they didnt think it was going to work. It clearly is working with the S class but then again it has the Mercedes emblem to go along with it.

I wish the F50 would of looked like that

No no guys, it's copying the LS460. There was a thread on this on club lexus. They look SO similar...it's horrible. People are going to jump on this, and rebadge it an LS460...lol.

hmm...interesting mix of cars. not too much s-class styling which is surprising considering they use f50 dash, 7 series console, ls460 front,5/7 series sides and rear.

I never said the outside looked like an F50 or an S-class, I was just using the example that even Mercedes copied from a lesser brand (Infiniti). Every brand copies in one way or another. Some more obvious then others as well

dude, don't think it looks like the LS460... maybe like the new accord or somewhat 5 series like.... but looking at the headlights and taillights... can tell it's a hyundai... still might be nice car for the price.... btw love the LS series by lexus.... very hard to compete with them imho...

front lights look like ls460, on the commercial i thought it was a mercedes. however, i live in florida, im sure once it comes out the word vip wont be mentioned, it'll be turned into a donk 8 months before its actual released. i can already see it, 22's and 24's poking out on leased cars that'll be repossessed next week. its so stupid down here, but its a nice car regardless prolly for cheap and in 10 years after that warranty is up it'll be an even cheaper price unlike q's lexus and other flagships. personally idt it compares to other top of the line cars, just a cheap luxury car. hyundai is the mutt of all cars takes everything from other car co. and makes a franken-car.

haha I think I may be one of the few to think that way, but all Japanese, Chinese, Korean car companies need to havve a brand look for themselves. Look at Honda Accord from 1990 and from 2000 and 2008, there are no similarities....each new release looks nothing like the old one...there's not a single common thing that separates honda cars from hyandai's from nissans, toyotas, etc. They all just go with the flow. Now look at BMW...a BMW from 1970's will still the kidney girlls like the cars today, thats how you know its a BMW....Benz, you can spot one easily...no matter if it was built a year ago or a decade ago. All those companies have a brand image that they stick to through the years.

Now that that rant is out of the way....I rode in a friends hyandai and it was actually pretty nice inside...cheap, but nice. I'm sure ballers on the budget will be all over this car when it comes out.

agreed, we could be seeing 5 year old genisis' in the sub $10K range... if they hold up that could be a freakin deal on wheels.

Its actually got 2 things going against its value retention... one its a luxury car and luxury cars drop in price crazy fast, like 80% per decade, second its a hyundai which again loses value REAL quick.

I might be tired of my Y33 by then and need a new commuter for the family. who knows, by then hyundai could be a trendy car.

with china, "Made in Korea" doesn't so bad anymore.

the genesis is basically a midsize sedan (similar to benz E class, infiniti g37 in size) that's priced at about 30,000. The styling is very copy cat and not very innovative in design. Another attempt at a korean car company trying to stuff a big car into a little body.

I'd rather get a fully loaded toyota camry and retain resale value.

I wait for the day when hyundai truly makes a big body, full size sedan.

What's funny about this thread is that people lack the forthought to understand that
if a car has a 10yr 100,000 mile warranty and it breaks down all the time......
wouldn't that company go bankrupt? I am assistant manager (service not sales) at a medium sized Kia dealer. ( which is a subsidiary of Hyundai) In all reallity our warranty hours have dropped bout 60% in the last year alone! These Korean car companies are also building most of their cars in the USA. Dont get me wrong the car is a total copy of alot of different vehicles. But hey, it is an inteligent marketing strategy made for the conservative buyers out there. As far as why this car has so many different similarities to other car companies is because Hyundai/Kia do no longer have a R&R department. They simply purchase "proven" technolgies from other established automotive groups. This in turn yeilds a higher profit margin while maintaining quality and desirability. Would I shell out 30k for one? No. I like Lexus body styles and Infinity much more. Is this vehicle worthy of being called a luxury car? Imo, yes . It is evey bit one, without the badge...... I think it would be well respected. Well anyway thats my .02 but I can see how the
old rep of Hyundai would give the feel of "cheap" But there was a time when Toyota was also in the same shoes. Take this for what it is.........for god sake, I drive a neon!

yeah, lot of hatin goin on here. I wouldn't have ever thought of getting a Hyundai, but this car is gonna break thru boundaries. More HP than more expensive cars and if the green light is given to the coupe version. well, you can imagine what will happen to the Mustang guys when they get smoked by a 380 HP Hyundai! I can already see these cars in Formula D! It's gonna happen wether we like it or not. Give it a chance. It would suck to get out flossed by a similarly built VIP'd Genesis wouldn't it?

definitely a +1 on that, minus the fact that I do not work for hyundai/kia

old jap cars copied US made cars back in the 60's. old mitsu galants had the back of a mustang. Just gotta take it for what it is. Growth, has to start somewhere...

A lot of you are victims of ignoring the past lessons of history. A couple decades ago, all Japanese cars were thought of as crap boxes. Hondas used to be the brunt of jokes in sitcoms and Datsun, to this very day, possesses an aura of shittiness. Then, Honda made Acura and Toyota made Lexus and essentially duped you guys, making everyone forget about the little shitboxes of yore. This Hyundai is a good looking car with the power to match. 4.6L V8 375 hp. 6-speed ZF Tranny. Lexicon Audio System (the only other production car with this audio system is the Rolls Phantom), 10 airbags, adaptive headlights, rear heated seats and controls, etc. Plus you get a 10yr/100,000mi warranty, for half the price of a Lex, which 2 decades ago would have been a shitty Toyota.

Basically, history is repeating itself and most of you are too stupid to realize it.

in korea, hyundai produces this car called the eqqos or eqqus? when im there on business, we get driven around in these cars. they are just as comfortable as my s550 and are only owned by businessmen in korea. the cars would be definitely worth looking at once it releases. heck if LG and Samsung can make it big in the world, why can't hyundai? oh yeah, theres also this huge car called the "chairman," which is also one of those elite only vehicles in korea. google it.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get a used one in a few years just to have as a reliable daily. The prices will drop considerably within 2-3 years imo.(2005 elantras were selling for 2-4k last year lol) Since this country has the mindset that korean cars are crap I highly doubt that most will pay 20k for a "used hyundai" which means that the used sedans in a few years will be in the 12-18k range imo and still have YEARS of warranty left. Works out perfect for me. I really do hope this car sells well enough for hyundai to start their own luxury line though. Even if they do steal every one else's shit from a business standpoint they are coming up the right way. Climbing up the backs of others.lol dog eat dog

O yeah and as stated earlier in this thread you will definitely see them in drift. Perfect place for them would be formula drift right now because I'm sure that the guy who was driving the circuit city sponsored RX8 will definitely need a new ride/sponsor next season. They better be all over that cause he's a pretty good drifter.
