Hey guy's
Fantastic machines, can't wait to see more
Hopefully we'll see more VIP owners from downunder turning up round here
They are slowly gaining popularity in NZ, all we need now though is better roads for them to drive on

Dominik

Awesome guys! Cant wait to see pics of your car with the mods Dion! Those new wheels will be sick!

Nomad, the roads suck here too, but we make do ;)

Not exactly new news, but here's mine.* Yes, it's STILL in Japan, I have imposed a restirction on myself that I'm not allowed to ship it until I sell something to make some room in the driveway.* Every time I look at the pics though my determination starts to wane.....

Hey Ben,

have you guys made a collage of all the wide body celsiors you guys have helped to bring in yet?? :)

I wanna see!

Blipman
01-11-2006, 05:19 PM
Well, a psuedo worked 300ZX (around 350kW), a 180SX with an R32 GTR front end conversion which is the track car, 2 BMW's (that's the last time I buy one car, get one free) and some other junk.* I actually am over sports cars a little, while I LOVE my Z I just potter around in it for daily driving these days and although massively slower, with the 180SX track car what do I need another sports car for?* The Celsior WILL be my daily driver (a pretty bold statement I know), the only thing that I need to do to make that a reality is get the air suspension working a bit faster so I can get it up and down for driveways etc quickly enough.

Actual widebody Celsiors we've brought in is only around half a dozen or so, though there are plenty of other 'narrow body' :) VIP style Celsiors (one even with a Mercedes front end conversion), many of them I've posted in pic threads before.

The one on Craig's Celsior did and aired about 2 months ago (I'll get the footage and post it one of these days), the VIP 'cruise' I haven't heard anything back on and I guess may not be going ahead, not sure.

Yeah Mate, once the body kit is on the height will be lower as it is now the the height is low but I need to leave room for the body kit. Dom and I are looking at getting some 3 piece wheel with heaps of dish, but kit and paint job first hehehe. The decal is not everyone cup of tea and I know it is not VIP but it is there to break up the BLOCK look of the car until the main work gets done, believe it or not the car turn heads but I think it is cause they dont know what it is hehehe. Thanks for the comments and I wil put up the pics when it is done. A pic of the wheel show the height already, enjoy.

Cima's ROCK! LOL Both Naife and Judged, you have some gorgeous examples there. With the right wheels and stance, they would both be insane cars. Cant wait to hear how your manual conversion goes Naife!

Btw, if you are looking for 18s, you could go for something like this: http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m26270381
Needs some cleaning up around the lip, and may need some flaring/pulling but they might end very cheap, even with shipping to australia and other buying fees...

Nice one mate, maybe we can get a group photo done, I have bought Dominik's car and working on it now, so would like to get it ready for Autoglow or autosalon later this year. Showing it off at one of these shows to just to give the peeps of OZ a chance to see some VIP cars and maybe increase the scene here in OZ. I hope it travels well and I agree about the roll on/roll off setup and of course the guys how drive it cant be trusted either. Take some more photos when it lands in OZ. Do you think you will have a problem with getting it REGOed in VIC???

Blipman
04-05-2006, 08:34 PM
Rego shouldn't be too hard, there is no muffling of any sort so the exhaust will be LOUD, I'll have to fix that, and otherwise it will need some standard size wheels (which will look totally gay). Otherwise as long as the ride height is fine when set high the body kit's ok and that's all it is when you get down to it.

suit my tastes :) As you know, Dominik has the got the Nissan Y33 to turn into VIP and that should keep him busy awhile, But CIMA is has changed

I own two now, good to see you have one as well, VIP all the way

Judged :coolsmiley:

Cannonball
04-19-2006, 05:19 PM
Hey Judged,

Yeah, i had access to a stack of wheels and had nothing to do for 5 minutes, and that was the result.
The colour is standard, it has some freaky pearls or something in it though, as sometimes it looks more greeney/grey, then other times its bluey/grey.
ATM the car is completely stock, and in very good condition, but plan is first off a set of coilovers and rims, and tints, then depending on budget, I would like to respray the car black, do a manual conversion, install a FMIC, mabey kit if i can find one to fit up, and in the downtime between mods I might do some online shopping for bonnet mascots and things like that......

Oh, and I almost forgot, the Zorst will also be replaced with something more appropriate :coolsmiley:

The plan is for a fairly clean VIP look, but the main purpose of the car will be as a tow car for my track car (AE86), so I will have to make a few compromisies here and there. (eg, I would love to put some aftermarket bags on, but bags kinda suck for towing a car, so some adjustable coilovers will have to do it.)

Cannonball

Judged
05-15-2006, 06:50 PM
Cannonball,

That was the first thing I did with mine was get rid of the Bags. Not only do they sux on OZ roads but have a habit of exploding (Ask Dominik)
So both of the Cima's now are on coilovers the best thing for them. As for FMIC, have a look at the one I did on mine. Because there is not FMIC on these OEM, you will have to do a bit of work. The first thing is the coilovers, after they have been put in place you can then pull out all the OEM gear for the bags, eg Pump, tanks and piping. This will leave you some room for the FMIC piping. If you have anymore questions just ask as I have already done the hard yards to put one in and can give further guidence if required.
Keep us updates with pics as you go Dude.

Welcome vipjazz,

I do not post on this forum very often, but i check it almost everyday to see whats new. I also am from adelaide, and own a Y31 Cima (seen on the for sale post), and a GZ20 soarer. I like my soarer, it is pretty pimp, although not a true VIP. I reckon it's the nicest cross between a japanese sports turbo coupe, and a luxury sedan. And mine is an inch off the ground, so it helps look the part ;D

And also, welcome back dom. did you bring back any prezzies? :P Forums been pretty quiet since you been gone....

Hey, I had a quick look for you on Yahoo auctions Japan because i know Insurance makes kits for some older cars, but nothing for a crown. IMO a boxy car like that wouldnt be suited to a kit anyway, it would always look 'tacked on'

Sorry for the lack of replies on this thread. I am sort of taking a backseat on forums lately, i'm trying to spend more time on my car and less on the net!

But welcome to the new guys, hope you stick around and learn more about the great style that is VIP

Well my name is Mark, I'm in Tassie and G'day. No VIP car yet, just this old shitbox and a healthy appetite for Japanese car culture.

Its a 1988 HR31 Skyline coupe , 17x8" +18, 17x9" +10 Lehrmeister Stich rims, JIC coilovers, bigger turbo, 3" exhaust, JIC carbon fibre strut brace, Cusco cambertops, R200 LSD etc

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/floody79/artskoololdskool2.jpg

...but as the old shitbox gets faster, I'm going to need something low, fat and plush for daily duties so I'm thinking something big body and Japanese. Just here to pick up some ideas and such anyway.

hey pple, just bought a GS300 today, picking up next week..

have an S13 ive gone a bit crazy on, it has 18x9.5 -19 and 18x10.5 -24 Work VS-XX i got from japan, plus bunch of body mods etc. but after making it all so nice, its really very impractical and major cop bait, plus not the kind of car i can be bothered driving anymore (i kindof built it like a japanese drift workshop demo car style!). it isnt quite done, still have the front tyres to byu and wheels to fit, and some interior Bride trim to do to match the Bride seat. Also a gold painted 4pt cage to match the gold VS-XX.

anywho, thought id have a look for next car as i intended to sell the S13 after Perth Auto Salon (might pick up something for the wheels :P) but a mint GS300 came up at the Lexus of Perth dealership so i got out a (2nd) loan and got it. ive now got an for sale thread for the S13 and once its all in 1 peice ill actively aim to get rid of it, preferably after showing it off in July at Auto Salon.

the GS is 98, 129,500kms, 1 owner since new (channel 7 oz exec), full lexus of perth service history, all original, only blemish is a couple of scratches on the bonnet. i have asked Lexus to ask their panel beater what can be done to repair it prior to collection. the car is Vermillion Red (love the gold pearl in it in the sun :))

since i dropped big $$$ on the s13 i went VIP to save some money. sounds silly perhaps but i spent aruond 35k on the silvia on top of purchase price, whereas i only intend to spend hopefuly around 10k or less on the GS over a couple of years.

plans are LED tail lights, new headlights, billet grille, deleted boot wing, jp roof wing, 19" japanese wheels (like Kranze but too common in the scene i think), coilovers (or bags if funds allow but theyre very exxy here in Perth, only a couple of places do them), and a nice intake and exhaust system (pref duals both sides.)

hopefully can talk to some of you crew, and i get the silvia done and sold in the next couple of months to free up some funds to start modding the Lexus!

Hi Guys,

Ive been around for awhile, just working heaps up here in Karratha, hehe not much VIP up here, but the Cima is here and gets respect. Moving back to Perth soon so will get more active then. Cheers Danny

Welcome mate, good stuff. Yeah i cant see karratha appreciating seat cushions and curtains somehow haha

i really dont know if there is a VIP 'scene' at all in Perth to be honest. i have been in the Silvia/import scene since i had my licence about 7yrs ago and i only just got my GS300 and am going down the VIP track. So it would be cool to get a few more people together and get something happening.

as far as i know there is no Aussie VIP forum to bring people together so it makes it hard. What model Cima have you got? Y31?

Hi Guys,

I got a Lexus LS400, I got heaps of plans for it...In my head, and not quite the funds to perform the them lol..

I would like to get better/cooler looking rims, and a bodykit, but not really to sure where to start

I have had it for nearlly 3 years, and originally paid $12,500 and it is in really good condition. Blew a fucking tire out the other day, the inner side of the wall just busted out, so its getting repaired and a full service tomorrow.

Here it is...

heya fellow VIP stylers!!

im from perth as well..currently driving a civic..i'll have to post some pics sometime..

has anyone seen that car from the US with the number plate YAKUZA?..reason why i am asking..is because i am after a similar exhaust..

does anyone know where in perth i might be able to find a VIP style exhaust..

i hope i managed to attach the file correctly..

Dominik

Nice car 3PointJ, i agree some nice wheels would set that thing off. Getting wheels in Australia is generally a bit of an issue though, but you occasionally get idiots on BoostXXXXing selling some crazy nice rims for insanely cheap prices (I say idiots, because 9 times out of 10 they are 'upgrading' to some cheap crappy taiwanese chromies)

Kn_19_ht, that would probably be an oldschool JP exhaust, or one of the many clones. I doubt you will find anywhere in Australia that sells those exhausts, or even in Japan brand new - the style is much more subtle now. But on Yahoo auctions and Upgarage, they often have good condition exhausts like that for very good prices...

The other option is to go to a decent exhaust shop and just show them a pic and say "Make it!" You probably need to be quite firm though because exhaust past the rear bumper is a no-no and they probably dont want the liability...

DANNY! Where ya been? Did you go to Japan yet?

ant_jzs160
07-22-2008, 12:37 AM
Kn_19_ht - pretty sure i replied to your topic somehwere on the forums about that exhaust. nowhere in Perth will have it and it will probably be hard to find somewhere to make anything even like that, let alone the fact it sticks out beyond the bumper and is illegal!
i had a twin fluted exhaust on my S13 and i bought that through Exhaust Technology over east (adelaide) and they got it in from Japan anyway! nowhere in Perth could/would do it.
I would recommend buying from Yahoo Japan or similar and getting someone who does cash work on exhausts to do it e.g. i used Kermit Engineering to do the flutes on the s13 and he did a top job. he also flanged the flutes and flanged my cannon exhaust so that they were both easily interchangeable in about 5 mins by undoing the bolts and swapping them over using the metal exhaust gasket.

3pointj - not a bad car. some nicer wheels, maybe green tint and some chrome accents would be very nice

DONT go all black!

I really dont like that look. Its like "I'm a JDM Honda Ricer, who wants to bring that style to my new car!" hehe

Responded in your other thread. Im not a fan at all. Sure that merc looks tough, but A) the rims are a spoked design, which wouldnt look completely black when moving, and B) his has some noticeble lip...

At the end of the day, when its moving it would just be a black blob where the wheels are...

Hi all, name's Mark. Decided to join finally, mostly to browse for now. Was inspired by Ant here, I came from the Australia 147 Aristo forums.

At the moment I'm driving a locally delivered Mazda 929 HDES, pretty luxury but noone knows wtf they're doing with them here and there's no parts (apart from Mazda OEM which are sooo overpriced it's not even funny) so it has to go! My Aristo is in compliance at the moment, can't wait! Keen to get some VIP Style going, not sure how low I'm going to be able to go considering it'll be a daily (for now =)) and I'm living in a pretty hilly area with shithouse roads... Anyway here it is -

http://www.adam.com.au/mcreaser/Cars/IMG_3755_web.jpg

Got some HKS Hipermax LS+ to go in and a full interior white led kit including dash and console, green bolle tint lined up to go (gf's uncle is a tinter =)), still looking for wheels and exhaust at the moment.

hey Antz..i just saw ur car on the cover of Perth Street!! well done man!!

ant_jzs160
10-07-2008, 07:01 PM
hey yeh the article came out at last.! sold the car a while ago now and the shoot even longer ago, but glad its out now.

aristo is going alright, chipping away with the mods. got wheels, mufflers & new lower ball joints in my room all to go on asap. And its in for paint tomorrow to repair some damage and remove rear wing + debadge

yeh its hard to find time to get things done to your car when its your daily. thats one thing i loved about when i had the S13 and the Charade, the Charade was perfect daily as it was reliable and i could drive it anywhere etc and if my S13 was in bits it didnt matter!

yeah should catch up some time.. but now we're rolling into october i reckon itll be 2009 before we know it haha

have you heard about the car show in November? i think the 9th, its for charity and is $10 to enter. If i can get tyres for my wheels by then and get them on i might enter.. but i think ill struggle in that time frame.

kn_19_ht

u got ur wheels! nice work!! hurry up and get ur tyres on!! hahaha easy for me 2 say huh!..just take ur time..im sure it will look awesome when its ready!

i didnt get the chance 2 have a good read of Perth Street with ur car in it..but i'll see if i can get my hands on a copy!!.. luv ur s13 man!! looks awesome!! i hope u get the same results with ur aristo!!!

let me know abt the autosalon k!!

Front brakes *should* be the same as some other car we get here (cant remember which though)...
As for wheels, they can fit silly offsets, and they camber like a mofo when slammed, so you should go for something like 10J with 0 offsets at least. Should be a few of these sizes floating around, drifters use them with the widebody silvias etc

Is there any vip drivers in Sydney wanting to go for a cruise sometime? Ryan and i feel like we're the only ones doing the cambered/slammed/flush look. Would love a couple more people with similar stylings to come out with us!

ant_jzs160

Dom - yeh tell a lie, we do have those guys. you dont really see them around though, apart from at shows like auto salon, and then at their usual hangouts (Which 'white' people dont normally visit, no offence to them). And as you say, they're all Euros like Mercs, BMWs, and then some Hondas

i would love to bag my GS, but its just so crazily expensive! i got my coilovers before the dollar dropped so i paid about $1300 express posted from Japan for Insurance Group which are quite a good VIP brand. At the time i priced bags up locally, got one quite for around $8000, and then another for about $6000 drive in drive out. either way, best part of 5 times the price of coilovers just so i can arguably have worse ride quality & just the ability to ride a touch lower and park on the ground ..!

i might consider UAS over the coilovers down the track though..

EDIT - are you upgrading your system so you can get lower? i almost thought it was on coilovers as it looks similar to my car when i dropped it on stockies with my coilovers. or was it airbag from factory and you upgraded part of the system to a/m parts?

Dominik
02-10-2009, 01:33 AM
Airbags so you can ride lower? Most people with airbags ride higher than coilovers, because with low pressure you get softer suspension... Soft suspension down low = dangerous.
I think Universal Air are the exception to that rule, in that they are supposed to be quite stiff down low, and pretty hard when raised (they can be added to coilovers too, so thats probably what i will do if the exchange ever gets back up)

Oh and most of the UCF11 celsiors imported here have factory airbag suspension, but if you ride lowered the airbags will fail pretty quick, and Arnott industry bags are cheaper than OEM replacement (not even sure if Toyota still sells the bags).

They are cheaper, and better quality, come with a lifetime warranty, and if by chance you pop a bag, they are also rebuildable which the factory ones are not and they sure as crap dont come with a warranty. The ride quality is so much better and firmer. So it makes sense to go Arnott Industries. Link - http://www.arnottindustries.com/part_LEXUS_Air_Suspension_Parts_yid7_pid46.html

I bought my car with factory suspension which I thought was great, until my mate said he can make my car move alot quicker with a bigger compressor, tank, airlines and valves, so I said ok, although I did not realise he meant he was going to be re-drilling the openings in the standard airbags, so after it was done, I soon had problems with the standard bags leaking, cracking etc and the workmanship was terrible, the car nearly caught on fire with sparking fuses etc but you get what you pay for and I learnt that lesson, in the end I when I got my car back, my wallet was lighter by about $3000 which I suspect he pocketed at least half the money as the job was so dodgy it could not have cost $3000! So after being sick of how unreliable my suspension was, I bit the bullet and ordered Arnotts Industries bags and $2600 approx they arrived at my door and I installed them myself, I was almost $6000 out of pocket and basically back at square one but with much better quality bags. I am once again bored with the standard system, I want to put in 1/2" lines, twin compressors, custom made tripple convulented bags etc, I am getting it done professionally, so thats why my standard arnotts industries bags will be for sale soon.

cheers for the info all! i did wonder about riding low on bags, but a few of the people on this forum seem to do it, or at least ride as low as i am currently on coilovers but with the ability to park on the ground, and also inflate when necessary. But i did wonder about the softness when lowered. I guess UAS arent so bad if you are on damper adjustable shocks cause you can make them very stiff, but i guess then it would ride hard as most of the time!

yeah i knew most Celsiors came with bags stock, i am sort of jealous cause you see them pretty damn low. but it probably means their sus is failing and rides horribly :/
Ah good luck with the new setup then, should be able to get it to sit lower i guess when not restricted by anything factory-based

For me it was the opposite; owning 2 cars with factory air turned me right against air suspension. THe first car (V8 Soarer) was great; i could lower it an inch or 2 and it was still completely comfortable, but i did notice it was softer the lower you went.

Then i got a vip car (Y31 Cima). With the bags deflated the kit was about 1cm off the ground. Unfortunately with so little clearance the soft suspension was NOT good. And when a bag popped and gave me 3 months of replacement hell, i decided to stick with stiff, dependable suspension.

Now i drive with about this much clearance under my cat:

(Yes i realise that if i tuck my exhaust i would get a couple of inches of road clearance, thats next on the agenda)

very nice :) i have probably a bit more than that but not a great deal, probably around 3" i think to the exhaust system. i dont care if it scrapes though haha

im a bit unsure of my susp, i went soft for comfort which is good i guess cause all my other cars have been very hard. but now i do worry it is a bit soft. ive got 10k/6k springs and it is pretty soft. I increased preload over the factory amount by around 1/4" all round, and on stock wheel & tyre combo it was great, but once i got my 19s with stretched 35 series rubber it really hammered into highway joins, bridges, expansion joints, train tracks, all of which i cross twice i day to and from work.

so i put the preload back to factory (which incidentally lowered the car down again by around 1/4" haha bonus) but then it was much too scary-soft so i had dampening now set around 3/4 (or even more) toward full hard. it now hits bumps quite harshly again, but not as bad, but additionally it is softer w/out the preload so the tyres scrub my guards up my driveway and so on.

i think Cups is the way forward, cause i do want a kit too really so once that happens i guess i can flip the switch when i need to jack it up for a bit. i will probably still need to give it more preload though once its lowered via the kit :/

lol, not sure if you can tell, but that phone is o nly 4cm wide and my cat almost comes halfway down it. i.e. about 1" under the cat - i regularly scrape on roads with curvature :)

but yeah not too worried abt scraping that. got us ed to italready!

lol right, i didnt look very clearly at the pic last time, now i see the size of your hand and fingers relative to it! haha

thats crazy man! i dont mind scraping at all, but i dont want to scrape every time i go up and down my driveway so i have to keeep mine where it is now. :P

do you ever carry passengers?

Dominik
02-20-2009, 08:22 PM
3 passengers is probably the max, and then the rear was rubbing about 80% of the time. Its rubbing inside the fender well though; i will need to go down a tyre profile to stop that.

I had to raise it about an inch last weel because i went to get the exhaust raised, and i couldnt get onto their hoist that was made specially for lowered cars. Will go back again in the next couple of weeks and try again :)

^ i had a few PMs from some dudes local to me in perth, one with a 147 aristo and one with a Y34 Gloria. pretty sure they're both on here now and they were talking about making another aussie vip website. they said they'd made a bit of a start on it but were going to actually catch up and talk about some ideas or whatever for it. So hopefully that gets off the ground cause that'd certainly bring people together, even if they are from different states. And then we could have a 'crew' through the website/forum.

hey fella's my names james. i live in mt. gambier south australia and drive a 89 HC Mazda 929. used to be a member of the ausvip forum before that shut down. my car at the moment has virtually no real vip styling in terms of wheel fitment (18's with white wall tyres), but im working on changing that pretty soon. starting up a new aussie vip forum is a great idea, there are a fair few vip cars popping up around adelaide lately as im sure there are in the other states too. its good to see the style slowly catching on.

Hey Guys,

I see a few familiar faces from the old Ausvip forum, I will get on and check out the new site!

Some may know me from JDMST and other Nissan related forums, well I sold my Soarer and bought a R33 4dr which was nice, then switched to an S14a but didn't have enough go..

So now I have an A31 Cefiro with some cool mods :)

Anyway hope to make it along to the 10th for a catch up

Cheers

SOTO3Y I know what problems you can have with bags. Sucks about the costs !!! I know the arnotts are definitely better than standard from all the 4wd forums.I had standard bags in my LandRover -long story short got 4" lift. It was a proper kit but rode like shit it was PITA ,anyways: I had a kit to change to coils.because I'd find the fucker sitting on the ground in the morning due to leaks of std bags.
Have you seen these kits? (http://www.eliteautostyle.com/products/suspension_ls.htm) they might be up your alley? anyways I with got a 3gal tank (if you need one) lying round somewhere you can have if that helps. PS i'm in Newcastle too.

i cant say ive ever noticed it 'always going down for a week or so'. theres just been a couple of times there has been problems with hosting, and it was a long weekend so i straight away figured that wouldve effected something as he couldnt have contacted anyone in that time...

true he doesnt have the car but still does well to maintain the site and remain active, he is still interested also. i think he does okay, at least he took the initiative to start the site and its going well imo.

I offered to give Scott a hand, the down-time of the forum is quite minimal I thought. These days, I do have restricted admin authority over the site.
