Ok,
So i chose not to post in the wheels and suspension section, because its about my other daily driver and well it has nothing to do with vip cars the style or anything of the nature sooo... i was thinking wouldnt it be sweet to run a semi dish in the front and do staggered dishes in the back with a negative offest kinda thinking of lexaristo's car for example yea lets look at that. Now im not a noob when it comes to this i mean i know must guys do this on a rwd platform and i have a infiniti again rwd but for my probe gt fwd and sports lol. Now we all know about running these types and why its not possible because of the strict rules and offset types but its this because someone didnt like it or saftey issues or is it really not possible for this to happen.

I mean like can people get away running this because i for one would like to venture into giving my car a little appeal and well i dont wanna be the same spocom runs motegis on eibachs with ++ offests nooo.
So simply put can i run dishes on my car with this setup or anything similar at all???
I can accept all open opinions or constructive crit but no bs and negative stuff telling me why would i want to run this type on a probe and why did i choose such a car as a daily driver....
Notice i didnt go to my spot at pt.com because its another clublexus i won't get the answers i want i will get hell so i come the temple!

yes, you can run a staggered set up on a front wheel drive car. yes, you can run low and even negative offsets on a front wheel driv car.

it's just not typical given the fact that it's front wheel drive. you'll probably have a lot of wheel/tire shops tell you that it's incorrect to do it, perhaps even tell you flat out they won't do.

assuming you're not actually taking the car to the track (you stated it's your daily driver), you should be fine. just know that people will ask you why you're doing it, and say that it's a fwd car and it shouldn't be that way. as long as you know you're doing it for looks, and not performance reasons, you're fine.

Low offsets and taggered on FWD is no problem for a daily driver. Sure, you may have a bit more trouble at the track but that's not what matters in this case I'm guessing. Almost every single set of wheels that had any lip that I looked at for my car were staggered setups and most came from bB owners (used). Any Vip style Kei, or ist/bB owner can vouch for staggered on FWD setups

As long you dont go track racing or anything, you will be fine. Most of the scion people have staggered setups, try asking some of them about the handling and what not.

My co-worker has a black probe gt. He wants to get rims and Im pushing him to get some Work FS's, lol. I think those cars would look good with a dish setup.

Oh ok. i see ok see i knew you guys would point me in the right direction again this will be my daily driver and such so ok it is possible.I was looking at a euro first generation probe who had staggered offsets in the back with koenigg specials knock off that looked kick ass. I'm thinking like ok thats euro give the benny of of the doubt, its rwd some fwd aspec cars are there so i figured what the hey.

I don't know honestly what wheels im gonna choose for my probe i mean im used to works and walds on vip cars its hard to think
outside the box,now and come up with examples that would fit. Now the question is how am i going to convience that im not a damn spocom speed track star and get someone to help me out doing the install hopefully someone who is a crazy bodywork will help me.

5x114 bolt pattern, 17x8, +35mm is the "recommended" size.

Thinking outside the Vip or JDM style box would probably be a good idea for this car, it is after all a Ford sports car.
That being said, I think the 5Zigen 5ZR Copse in 17x7.5 +35mm offset would be nice for a daily driver. It's not an aggressive fit with a ton of lip etc. but you won't need to work to make them fit, and you could just space them out for aesthetics. The chunky 5 spoke with riveted lip will complement the first gen's blocky styling while updating it at the same time.

Thanks firelizard for the help i greatly appreciate it but unfortunatly the probe is a second gen different body style you know.
But the 5zigen's dont look half that bad actually they look kinda sweet they would go well plus they have lip hmm thats a start.
Now i have to find some suppliers to see if i can mess with different offsets to compliment this setup.Oh and i will probably running coilovers and spacers guys what mm do you think i should run to get them flushed and chambered.

Oh, woops, I saw you talking about a first gen, I thought it was the same model as yours.
2nd Gen Probes can take 18x8 no problem, with a +40mm "recommended" offset. 17s would look fine I think, but I think apparently the 5ZR Copse is available as an 18" 2 piece, no idea what offsets though.

Another one I thought of is the Work Emotion CR Kai (I didn't mention it before since I was trying to avoid the too-typical Work wheels). It's extremely popular and therefore super-easy to find used on Yahoo! JP or even eBay. Not too pricey new either. 18x7.5 goes for about $350-400 a piece, new. I think they're pretty cool because a lower offset* sinks the center in for that "sunken spoked" look

Ford Probes are often neglected because they're cheap, so people just rice them up and ruin them with cheap garbage. So, maybe a Probe on Rays Volks would be neat, TE37 would suit it nicely I think, though I bet they're pricey. They also have a bit of lip

As for spacers, I think you should pick out wheels and a ride height, then do whatever fender mods you want, then move the wheels out according to what space you have left.

haha noo noo you are miss-informed see that style is the first generation style as people call it the boxy style mine is the current second gen style which is this....

I have a staggered set-up on my 99 G20. The car is a daily driver & will never see the track. Now that I have fitted wider rims, I actually like the ride better than the te37's I had before. I do mostly freeway driving daily so I haven't notice any difference in handling.

yea i seen your p20 normandie that car is pretty damn clean yea thats basically the setup im trying to run with the exc of running something like works or bbs's staggered with neg offsets. I find the inspiration very helpfull indeed but just finding the right wheels and someone who can help me pull the idea off is the real challenge here i will have to play around and look further into the future so well see.
