View Full Version : The EGG is Dead............................

The incredible, edible, EGG........is Dead. May she rest in Peace. Blew the Head Gasket.........most likely "internal damage" as well. Priced out how much it would cost to fix and have determined that it is just not worth it. I would be better off picking up a new ride...........I am however looking in "possibly" picking up another EGG. Hopefully something with "less miles" on her. But then again.........mines only has 180,000 mile on her. My previous ride had well over 240,000 and the engine was still strong! The Tranny was re-built twice though because of the Stillen ECU up-grade.....anyways.......I have my eyes set on a local EGG which is a 97 with only 25,000 miles on her, owner says runs perfect and both interior and exterior is great. He is asking for $3,700........already left a message.....hopefully he/she will call me to tell me they still have it "For Sale"...wish me luck. Only detail that this person forgot to add in their ad was the color of the EGG. Probally a "brain fart"........been there, done that, probally will do another one tomorrow.
Until I find my next EGG or "another ride" I will be driving a 02 Nissan Sentra..........manual.........I miss automatic.......yes, I am old! LOL
Pics request........anyone have a pics of a "Stock Gold" modded EGG?

Sorry about your EGG.
I had mine blown gasket when I bought off from the last owner. I replace a used JDM SC engine. it is around 35K miles. The body is in very good shape. Only the roof need new paint at that time.
If you're looking for replacing engine, it will probably cost around $1500 to $1800 for non-SC model. The SC will be around 2500 to 2700.
If you are planning to buy another one, first you have to consider how long will it last?
I have mine running good so far. If you're in SoCal, I can refer to the Toyota expert shop.
Anyway, good luck to U. If you need help, you are welcome to contact me!

yoshi is in Hawaii. About the Previa with 25,000 miles, is that the mileage on the car itself or the engine.

Still no reply from the guy who is selling the 25,000 miles '97 EGG. Don't know much other than what his ad says........wish I knew more as well as had some pics.
Got a couple of others but nothing comes close to both the price and low miles of the "forementioned" EGG. Hopefully the guy selling will give me a call..........fingers crossed.
Shawn,
That isn't a "stock" gold correct? If the "stock" gold was that color I would be all over it. Gold is the color of another EGG that I am looking at......its got twin sunroofs, captain chairs......2 things that I wanted originally. It is not SC but it is all good.....not like I go fast anyways.....I need to take better mileage over power.....especially with my EGG breaking my bank.

Sorry to hear this Yoshi good luck finding a nice replacement...

Yup the Stereo is going to have to "come out" and "back in" again....will be needing your services once again. As well as "transferring" all the parts from the Old Egg to the New Egg. EGG on Maui huh? thanks but I actually have my eyes on a couple here on Oahu......thinking of going "no supercharger" this time around.....if it got it then cool, but if it ain't got it then great! Got to save some monies at the pump. The EGG ain't that great on gas......for a 4 banger it can sure chug gas....I am sure that my SuperCharger didn't help the cause any.

True that.....my V6 used to get waaaaaaay better mileage than my EGG ever did.......and I drive like a old man!! The Sounds, Wheels, and other modds sure didn't help the cause. LOL

get another egg. i've always loved the estima lucida.
sukoshiyoshi
02-04-2008, 02:16 AM
The Lucida is actually not released in the US. But this is one ride that I really don't mind that Japan did not share with the US. Feel that the EGG overall just has a better look to it. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I do believe that the Lucida was a Model "below" the Previa (Estima). Ex: The Lexus GS it to the Lexus LS. Personally I have always loved the "Celtima" (Previa with the Celsior headlights). Way to rich for my wallet.

not quite that drastic, but yeah, the lucida is a lesser version of the normal estima. it was made narrower among other things to fit into a lower classification for areas that tax based on vehicle size. me no likey
