I like it. I give Hyundai props for introducing new RWD platforms to the market. Not bad at all, I wouldn't mind rolling in one or the coupe too...

Haha, I was hoping for more than wheels and a drop. It's not bad looking. But I kind of doubt that Japan will embrace it. Although there is a small growing vip community in Korea with help from a JP boutique.

Heh. I didn't see the other Genesis thread. Front end is Lexus, rear end is BMW, it's so blatant...
But it's good looking, I'll give it that

Thats what I had invisioned when I started my thread. This car has serious potential. Although it may not compare to other real luxury cars, its still better than having a 15-20 year old luxury car IMO. (options, warrantee, horse power, gas milage, etc.)

The only thing holding me back is I wish they wouldn't call it "Hyundai". If they made Genesis the brand name and gave the car a different model name I would be about 1000 times more likely to buy it.
PANCAKES!

I love everything about the one Elepresidente did except the grill!!! WHEELS ARE PERFECT
Car does look like a bubble though! And watch the commercial! I was blowin away to find out it was a Hyundai! It's funny that no matter how good the car looks or may copy another, many of you don't like it because of the name! Looks good to me Hyundai or not! Hyundai has been producing some nice shit lately! I can't remember what model it was but this one chick came out of a black Hyundai w/ woodgrain all over the inside! It was pretty clean!
AND Who wouldn't drive a SEGA GENESIS! That system was dope as hell back in the day! =)

nice chops!
Wish it was as big as a ls430 ucf31, ls460 or f50 q45! a full sized big body with a 30,000 price tag would be sweet.
however this genesis is nothing more than a infiniti g37 in terms of presence.

I really have to admit that car has got some seriously good taste. the lexus/bmw mix looks good. Though it's definitely not going to do as good as it should because of the name behind it, shitty but true. I'd buy one...

Nothing wrong with a Hyundai folks. The brand has really stepped it up in recent years and is a sleeper in the Automotive Industry.
But it'll take alot of convincing to the consumer for this and I think Hyundai is taking a leap forward with their RWD platforms doing so. It's just that so many consumers are so closed minded. Siiiiiiiiiiiigh.

I love it Shows me that Koreans can copy like every other company ... and stop making their design ..
(which wasn't doing it for me)
This would be the only model I'd buy though ... ;) .. so far .. I am sure as the years go by It will look even better ...
BTW those photo shops look pretty sick ..

They reversed engineered many luxury cars to get that thing right
Funny how so many dismiss the car because 'it's still just a Hyundai', yet we forget that nearly 20 years ago people where saying exactly the same thing about Lexus...'it's still just a Toyota'
No one with any sense dare say 'it's still just a Toyota' nowadays in regards to Lexus
It won't be the wake-up call to the industry that the LS was but it'll surely be a step in the right direction...value for money, you betcha?
As for the styling...it's very derivative but, it works, although I think it's appears too short in some of those above pics, I guess there needs to be a long wheelbase version

Can't deny that Hyundai has stepped their game up. The Genesis looks like a lightweight contender.

Could not have said it better.
What many fail to see here is Hyundai has been doing tremendously better than they used to. What's brought the company down during the 80's was their infamous Pony. That alone was their death, and they still couldn't recover from their stigma ever since.
I really can't see what's wrong with the car. People seem obsessed with the fact that it's a Hyundai. Many have even said it: it looks nice and proper. A bit of a bastardized Lex and bimmer, but really, who isn't copying one another...
I'm sure if it had a Lex badge, people would give more cred than they do now.

I have caught my self looking at this car before and asking my self, what would it look like VIP and from these pics it looks sick. They are stepping up, I think in 10 years or so they will be a problem to deal with for other companies. They are giving out 100,000+ mile guarantees right? that mens they have confidence it will last long and so why not try it if you think its nice.

but, I do agree that they are taking pieces from other cars in this design BIG TIME.

well in the latest motor trend they drive and compare the car to others in its class. they also comment on the fact that it has several similarities to other makes but also comment that this reminds them of when the ucf10 came out and changed the game up and that Lexus specifically should be worried

this is coming directly from the magazine
"As St. Antoine points out, "TheGenesis costs barely more than the original 1990 LS 400." If Lexus isn't nervous, it should be. Sure, the Genesis lacks some of the exquisiteness and attention to detail of the LS, whose interior stitching and real wood trim, for instance, are a step above, but the Lexus costs nearly twice as much. That's a huge discrepancy in price for a minor disparity in excellence-- ideal for Hyundai, not so much for Lexus. Still, prospective buyers aren't apt to suddenly cross-shop the Genesis, although they should, given it's near-identical driving experience and projected three-year residual value, which, according to Automotive Lease Guide, ranks above that of the BMW 550i, Infiniti M45, Lexus GS 460, and Mercedes E550. Is the Genesis a knockoff? Absolutely. A knockout? More of a jarring right-left combination that'll leave Lexus a bit dazed, shuffling a step or two back, and realizing that Hyundai deserves its full attention and respect. After all, what's Lexus to do when Hyundai actually builds a luxury sedan that doesn't cost half as much?"

Its funny you say that. Have you seen the recent commercial for the Genesis??..Starts off showing Lexus CEO owner asking in some asian language..not sure if its jap..then switches over to BMW and the head CEO guy pist off speaking in german, then switches back to Lexus saying Hyundai!!???..then german...LoL....i thought it was pretty funny.

That video is amazing! Hyundai's are nicer than toyota and hondas these days. Hyundai is a massive company with fingers in many pies, they make all sorts of shit (tvs, ect...) which shows in their cars. The interior materials are the nicest in its class by wide margin, the tolerances are extremely tight, their tech is solid. I'd rather mod a gensis then a 01-03 LS430 or something along those lines.
