I found like 3 nails stuck in the tires. NYC roads are brutal

How stretched? I see it was a 245/35R20 tyre... Do you mean stretched as in, that was on a 20x10 wheel?

What kind of tires are those?

they look like the nitto neo gens...notice the little locking teeth lookin parts on the tire tread, i think that neo gens are the only ones that have those for the "help with camber", they 're supposed to help take the load of the inner part of the tire with camber ;), i burned them out in a heartbeat though :-\, plus, i see "left" on there, neo gens are only inside and outside (not like directionals that you can flip)...but we'll wait for the answer and see ;)

So, did they break because of the stretch or because of the nails ruining the integrity?

I was running a 245/35/20 on a 20x10 wheel. Tires are Toyo proxes4. The tires treated me good until that happened. I cant blame it on the tires completly, I put about 7-8k miles on them and they been through horrible roads. I was on the highway going about 60 at the time so it could have been worse. I would say the nails ruined the integrity combined with driving over bumps on a daily basis. I already ordered a replacement but when I am ready to swap all 4 tires, I might go with dunlops or falkens.

wow that sucks.

aren't the proxes4 kinda known to have a weak sidewall ?

good thing nothing happened to your wheels.

I see that the T1r's are more popular on this site. Should I get a pair? I want a set of tires that handle well in the rain, and doesnt make much noise. I do 100 miles of traveling everyday going to work and back so keep that in mind.

Toyos are prone to sidewall cracking. Every set I've owned cracked at the sidewall one point in its life. I owned about 5 sets all different models. Never happened that bad tho.

FM901 stretch nicely. However their 19" selection is next to nothing. Just 215 and 225. Also they are very aggressive looking tread. Personally, I would not run them on a VIPcar.
