Hey,
First time poster... but anyway... i have a gs300, im almost certian im getting fabulous profounds and my question is :
What would be the best suit of sizes and offsets for the description following -- on a GS300?
i needed some recommended offsets for some aggressive yet not TOO vip lips...
-wheels are 20"
- either
20 x 9 or 20 x 9.5 Front
20 x 10 or 20 x 10.5 Rear
Trying for a 3"-ish front lip and upwards of 4- 6 inches of lip on the rear
- Car WILL be put on coilovers initially..riding decently low...
- Could possibly turn into bags... but not for a while
- No BBK added
- Willing to roll fenders etc...
so any help will be appreciated...
thanks,
Matt

First Gen or Second Gen GS?

I would highly recommend NOT going with 20's, specially if you are going to drive it slammed. When I had 20's (flushed), I always had a problem turning into driveways. Since the whole diameter is larger than stock, the front tire would rub the fender and bend the inner fender lip inside out.

yea its a second gen...
19's huh... well, i guess in the long run it'd be better...
so with 19's .... how large are your lips with those specs?
19x9 26 offset
19x10.5 30 offset
is this all i need to put in a order for specific wheels?
what about all that low disk... special low etc...?
if thats all then im good

Both front and rear on mine are low disk, fronts are 3.5 and rears are 4.5 inches. This is the info I got off Yahoo Auction Japan where I bought my wheels used, so I'm not 100% sure I'm accurate.

Unless you are copying his Fabulous Profound, you won't get the same size lip.

Seems like alot of people want 4-6" of lip without fender mods. My Cima had just over 6" of lip on a 13" wide wheel with -4 offset. Guards were flared at least 10cm each side. Actually, when you come to think about it you would *have* to have 0 to negative offsets on a minimum of 10" wide wheels to get that much lip...
UNLESS you are talking about 'fake lip' where the spokes curve back giving the illusion of more lip
No offence to the original poster, but I think people are gettinga bit lip-happy these days... Next person will be after a *minimum* of 6" lip with no flares or camber
yeah, 19's are your best fit...definitley.
I say, forget the inches of lip action and concentrate more on fitment. ( lip 3 F 4 to 4.5 R should be all you need)
do a 19x9 F with offsets in the +15 to mid 20's
and a 19x10 R with offsets in the +15 to mid 20's
this should give you the aggressive VIP fitment with minor fender mods and look Hard :coolsmiley:
and don't forget to stretch those tires....225/35/19 F and 245/35/19 R

Nope, just like the wheels and was ignorant about fitment...

Sorry, i wasn't trying to target you particularly and i do realise you said you were willing to roll the fenders. But thats not really a fender mod IMO, its a requirement to fit any good width wheels. Would you be willing to cut the inner fender well out for more clearance? Pull the guards to the point where a respray might be necessary? Run up to 5 degrees of camber with modified upper control arms? These are typical fender mods that might be needed to fit the wheels that viplife posted
My comment was made because I have seen a few people use the measurements 4"-6" when requesting wheel recommendations and I guess its the new measurement worth bragging about rather than just saying '20" wheels yo!' or 'Its dropped 3"'.
Instead of looking for a lip measurement, why not go for a tough fitment, and be happy with the amount of dish that you can get with that fitment? (granted its alot harder to explain your wheels to people; "19x10 with +10 offset" just doesnt conjure up the same respect with most people as "19 Inch wheels with 5 inches of Dish" would).
Last carshow i went to i saw a 200SX (S14) with around 6" of dish on the rear. Yet he made them fit by doing mini-tubs on the car, so they were tucked RIGHT into the guards. It looked no better than a set of flat faced +40 chromies would have looked on the car.
Anyway, no disrespect intended... It sounds like you will be able to reach your target with some of the wheels/specs mentioned in this thread anyway (Fabulous wheels tend to have spokes that curve inwards giving more dish than you would get on other styles - but it looks ALOT better than most 'fake dish' wheels) - just remember that tough fitment makes more of a visual statement than having x amount of dish
