Question HID replacement bulbs for Y33 Q45?

So I bought some replacement bulbs for my Y33 from jrlighting.com a few weeks ago. Now I ordered D2R bulbs and when they came in the mail I recieved D2C bulbs! :( Now my question is........can I still install these on my car or do they have to be D2Rs? I don't want to deal with having to go through all that trouble for the return so if I can't install them I will sell them.
They are D2C 12K bulbs! Let me know! Thanks guys!

why do you need to remove your bumper? The headlights don't have to come out to change a light bulb...just remove your airbox and batery.

Those bulbs will work, but the light pattern will be messed up...I'd return them if I were you.

the patterns should not change. ive seen d2c bulbs alot lately and all they are is a universal bulbs that fit both d2s and d2r. d2s and d2r bulbs have slots on opposite sides, so you cant put d2s in a d2r and vica versa, the d2c bulbs have the slots on both sides. people have found that there is a very very minimal difference from using a d2s bulb in a d2r application, so they found that it would be cheaper to have a bulb that fits both applications.
i say you should just keep them and you will have no problems

Sorry I thought you might have to remove the bumper for easy install!

uh, d2r's have reflective strips on them to help block the light, and d2s don't. how can you have a 'universal' bulb when the original bulbs are completely different?

get the original bulbs for your car pancakes, it'll save a lot of headaches in the long run.

There isnt much of a difference to begin with like I said in my last response, thats why these companies make the universal bulbs now. Last time I looked at aftermarket hid bulbs most of them I saw were this newer d2c style anyway. Not that I would ever use anything but oem philips or osram bulbs, but thats what i noticed. to each his own

pancakes lets see some pics of these insanely useless 12K bulbs, lol, and they shouldnt be that bright anyway but they should look alright

The only difference between the two is the metal reflective strip..I will honestly say I have expierence in this area..I took my reflective stip off to see what the diff was and it was so bright that after less than a second I everything turned pink. I thought it was the light but I started seeing wierd and it went yellow...I turned off the headlights and started freeking out I though I really effed up my eyes..YOu no how normally if you look in the sun you see a sun spot for a bit..Well everything was pink for 10-15 minutes and slowly I regained normall vision after about an hour. As soon as I could see again I went out side took the lights out and put the shield back on. I thouhgt to myself I could have really killed someone driving like that..

So my friend I say this..Please take them out and get the correct ones so you dont blind on comming traffic..One is set up for reflector housing while the other is set up for projector housing..

reflective strip on the bulb??? its like a paint on the bulb that if you take it off you CANNOT put it back on. I think you are talking about the shield/reflector in front of the bulbs that cars with D2R bulbs have. This is not part of the bulb nor does it affect his situation.
    cheers

NO I am not talking about that part. The after market H4 has the reflective shield screwed on to it,,some have it like that and some dont. Depends who makes the bulb.

THe point I was trying to make was that if he puts a bulb that does not have that Reflective coating/shield it will be as if he took it off like I did and the light will be blinding..The light will scatter everywhere..rather than beemed in its correct pattern..

i thought the difference between the two types of bulbs were the half shielding around the bulb. if its for a 9006 for example, i believe both bulbs will work, just that one of them will throw light everywhere while the other has a more directed beam.

    Unhappy Update!

Well thanks everybody for alll the info. I attempted to install the bulbs on jus to see what they would look like and how bright they would be but to be honest with you guys, I never found out. I was able to compare the two bulbs and the D2Rs do have a reflective strip that looks like you have to touch the bulb to get it off. The DC2 bulb did not. Also I have a '99 which has the black housing w/ the HID already built into the light which made installation alo more deficult. First after taking out the battery and air box which took about 15 min., I found out that the cap the covers the bulb is locked by a special hex head screw. So after picking up the right screw I was able to get access to the bulb. Now every thing went fine until I had to put the new bulbs in the socket. I couldn't get the new bulbs to fit inside the socket and after about 2 hours I decied to put the stock bulbs back in. I was able to get the stock bulbs back in but not with out trouble. First the passenger side has no room to see what your doing even with the battery completly removed so you have to do most of the install blind. Second there's a ground wire that is a BI*CH to re attach along with getting the clamp to fit all the way in. Well after getting everything put back together and getting the lights to light back up, I decied to skip changing my bulbs until I really need to or have the time and patients to go through all that again. Another thing that made this all difficult is my car was fully dumped and my hood shocks lost power, so my back is sore from bending low and I had to hold the hood up! Oh well, I'll just wait and get the right size bulbs!

Yea, just get D2R bulbs because you'll need that strip on the glass. I've used D2S (w/o the strip) and it glared a lot. Did you remove the headlight housings from the car to get better access to the bulbs? Its a few more 10mm bolts like 5 or 6, but it makes bulb changing a little bit easier access-wise. Use a vice grip on the hood shock to keep the hood up until you get replacements.

No need for bumper removal. Removing the housings is pretty easy with the right 10mm socket and extension. 3 10mm bolts in the back of the housing I believe, 1 above the corner lamp, and 1 or 2 near the grill side, then just undo the harness plugs. Some of the bolts that are hard to access, I left them off when reinstalling the housing to make things quicker/easier for next time, for example, I can now remove the housings w/o the need of removing the battery or airbox. Thanks for the compliment, but really I'm trying to get my car where yours is with that fitment you have!

Yea, I experienced similar pain in the ass because of the stupid design. Especially the ground wire. I was able to massage it in the without tooooo much trouble but it takes a little bit of patience.

No need to remove the bumper, just take your time you'll get it.
