![]() like the tittle says. lol I was thinkin. big sedans arent very fuel uhh yea, in other words they arent prius's. my question is would there be a way to run some E85? I would think so example my 180 ima run E85 cheaper on the price and higher octane burns cleaner. I was thinking about doin this to the Y33 when I get it. Now with that said. how many of you guys would like to do this? or is it a bad idea? lets conversate

There's nothing sweeter than a burble of a big V8, but shit, i'd convert my car to Electric if engines were outlawed tomorrow.
Just put something in the driveline to make a bit of noise lol... bit like putting a card on your front spokes of your pushbike, to get the brrrrrr brrrrr noise hehe.

oh yea i love the way a V8 sounds.
but im talking about changin fuels. instead of 89octane or 91octane we can use E85(105octane) you could still hear that throathy V8 garggle. and the fuel economy can probly change. i would drop a hybrid motor in my cars if they still produced the same horsepower and were modification friendly. |

lol .E85 is made from corn. basically its corn fuel. its cheaper here in the states some cars like GM chevy and i think ford come out stock with that. well from what ive heard doin the convertion is pretty simple just change fuel lines i think and have it tuned to run on it. in canada they dont have any eviroment friendly fuels? besides old fossil fuels? |

Like that guy said, if I had one of those, I'd purposely drive harder just to hear it rev higher.

Very interesting idea...I've got a couple friends that have turbo cars tuned for E85 but never thought about doing it to anything non turbo/race car. I know you can do the oil conversion in diesels...

the only reason i made this thread is bc im see'n all of these hybrid cars and lets face it, pretty soon we are goin to be having nothing but electric cars or solar cars with the way technology is goin. And personaly i dont want to see a world with electric cars and solar cars making little HP,then again i dont want to kill the earth with fossil fuels(no a hippy lol), I dont want to wait till they figure out how to put massive HP on hybrid cars or electric ect.... Ive been talking to a local friend/tuner and some shop owners that i know and they seem to be on this idea also. |

E85 is a good fuel from a performance standpoint, but if you noticed, once the price of oil came down, there hasn't been much progress on retrofitting more stations to carry E85. I'm just glad that there are a few nearby so I can still pump it in my dsm.
The other thing is that it is only practical when gas prices go up, because it takes about 20% more E85 compared to gasoline. So most likely an upgraded fuel pump and injectors are also necessary as well as retuning the car. |

I was looking at some stuff on NWP and other threads and forums, I guess there is a Integra DC2 running on hydrogen(abunai racing). Could be a fluke, I was doin some research I guess you can buy these kits. From what I heard gas and hydro dont mix, I knew mazda was coming out with a hydrogen rotary havent really heard anything about that for a while. google search on hydrogen sigh* the quest continues... |

There definitely is a DC2 running a hydrogen powered combustion engine. It's a white one with a converted k-series.

I know a lot of people are converting their OG W126 Benzs to Bio Diesel or running them off vegetable oil now. Conversion is a couple G's but supposedly pays itself off in a year or two depending on driving habits.

Definitely an intersting idea, or even converting over to CNG which you see the old Police crusiers turned Taxi doing all the time. But you make less power for sure on CNG. Not sure about on E85.
As for the power of electric engines, you must not be paying much attention to what's going on out there, but there are some electric cars out now that out accelerate a gas engine, like the Tesla roadster (0-60 = 3.9 sec) or Fisker, which has a nice looking sedan thats fast. Eventually like you said, there will be nothing but electric engine cars, and I guarantee 100% that they'll smash acceleration / HP records of anything gas could do. Well, maybe anything gas could do besides a Nitro Methane NHRA Fuel car w/ 8000 HP..... interesting article on the 10 fastest electric cars, one does 0-60 in about 2.5 seconds! http://gas2.org/2009/03/29/worlds-to...electric-cars/
